✨ Today Was Beyond Magical at Fields of Dreams ✨
There are days on the farm that stop you in your tracks…
Today was one of them.
I watched — quietly, gently, without being noticed — as tiny moments of courage unfolded into something extraordinary.
🌿 Smiles that weren’t there at the start of the day.
🎶 Laughter and dancing breaking through layers of overwhelm.
🐾 Wild muddy walks becoming freedom instead of fear.
🤝 Connections forming between young people who were once labelled ‘only capable of 1:1.’
To the untrained eye, it may look like “Of course they’re happy — they can do what they want, it’s easy on a farm.”
Actually…
It’s the complete opposite.
This morning we supported children who:
🚗 Arrived too dysregulated to leave the car
🔇 Couldn’t verbalise when they stepped out
👀 Hid their eyes from the world
💔 Felt too unsafe, too overwhelmed, too unseen in other settings
But with time… presence… gentle rhythm…
A glimpse of movement… a beat of music… a donkey bray in the distance…
Something shifted.
They softened.
They connected.
They chose to join in.
They socialised — beautifully, naturally — with others who feel life just as deeply as they do.
And what formed wasn’t a forced activity.
It was a community.
A little tribe of wild, wonderful souls rising together.
This is the heart of Fields of Dreams —
Not “easy.”
Not “anything goes.”
But intentional, therapeutic, trauma-informed magic
…rooted in animal-assisted learning, safety, and compassion.
Today reminded me why we do this work.
Why this farm is more than a place
It’s a space where young people finally breathe.
From healing to learning.
From isolation to connection.
From overwhelm to joy.
