When a person/patient faces a medical or life threatening emergency, every second counts, a Community First Responder can make a vital difference

First Responders in the Aylsham area are trained volunteers who give up their spare time to be dispatched by Ambulance Control to certain 999 calls and provide on-scene emergency care to people in their own community

When a emergency 999 call is made, First Responders are alerted by ambulance control and are sent to certain types of calls at the same time as an ambulance so they can provide essential care until the Ambulance crew reaches the scene

The volunteers are trained by the East of England Ambulance Service and are able to administer first aid skills, oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of a defibrillator (AED)

Holt Community First Responders are at the garden centre raising awareness about their role and collecting donations to help with their role.

HCFR are trained volunteers who provide immediate medical assistance in the Holt area, reaching emergencies like cardiac arrests and breathing difficulties before an ambulance arrives. They use their own vehicles, are dispatched by ambulance services, and aim to stabilize patients until professional crews take over. The role involves initial life support skills and is a rewarding way for locals to give back to the community.

Any questions please contact the Garden Centre team on 01263 711574 or info@holtgardencentre.co.uk and they will be happy to help

Congratulations to Sammi who has just achieved her Frec4 in Higher Emergency Care. This course takes a year of hard work and enables our responders to better take care of our patients until our full time colleagues arrive. Well done Sammi

We have two of our community on the organ donation list, please take time to read this amazing service and consider how this helps people to live a happy and healthy life.

Today is World Organ Donation Day! ๐Ÿ’—

Join us to celebrate the life-saving impact of organ donation and remember the donors and their families who make it all possible.

More people than ever before are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in the UK โ€“ but donor and transplant numbers have fallen. The stark reality is that over 8,000 people, including 276 children, were on the active transplant waiting list as of 31 March 2025 โ€“ the highest number on record.

Confirming your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register takes just 2 minutes and you could save up to 9 lives. It's the best thing you'll do today.

Thank you so much to Aylsham Round Table and Rich Barnett for their donation of ยฃ250 to our funds.
This will be spent on Family First Aid kits which we distribute in the area at events we attend as people come and try CPR with us.

Aylsham and Holt responders attended 72 calls in July, making a very busy month sadly.
Here, Paul one of our responders is with Robin, one of the pilots of East Anglia Air Ambulance on a call they attended. It was Robins last flight before moving on and we wish him all the best for the future.
