Yoga is practiced on and off the mat; yoga is not about being able to touch your toes or stand on your head; it is about connection. In my classes you will reconnect with the body and mind to improve your overall well being through asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing techniques) and mindful meditation. Testimonials:
“I enjoy the feeling of physical and emotional wellbeing that comes following a yoga class with Claire...it soothes my aches and pains, and the breathing techniques and meditations bring me mental clarity and calm. I also sleep better after a class.”

“I always love the flow to Claire’s classes and the way she personalises them to our needs by giving lots of options, they are filled with love and she gives meaning to the poses rather than just making shapes with our bodies. It feels like a safe space with lots of hygge."

“Claire is a fantastic teacher, who has a wonderful calm manner and provides clear instructions… She encourages us not to worry if we go wrong, and have a giggle if we confuse our left and right!”

“Claire has a genuine nature and love for yoga...I always leave her classes both relaxed and full of positive energy... She is everything you could want in a yoga teacher. “

REST.
I'm feeling a little under the weather today, probably because there has been a lot on recently and the nervous system can only take so much.
I am well enough to do some things on my work and family to do list, but REST is my priority today.
Because without me, I can't be there to teach my beautiful community, nor be present for my family.

So I am in bed.
No guilt.
Just surrender.

It is always special to hold an event

For the last 2 years we have taken an afternoon out before the end of year celebrations to restore our system.

Completely dedicated to rest, release and self care. Conserving our energy, and leaning into stillness and quiet.

and I love holding the space for you to just be, exactly as you are, releasing what you need too and take a whole body breath out.

There are a few spaces left.

"the mountain just sits, unequivocally itself, through all weathers, through all seasons"

Holding centre, being secure in ourselves staying rooted with who we are, means we aren't as easily uprooted, distracted or disconnected, even when storms enter our lives.

E A R T H

“Earth’s supporting and stabilizing energy… can enable us to hold-centre amidst the many opposing forces at work, and find ease and harmony with the various demands we might juggle with and the many constant changes…we face”

The idea of “holding centre” appeals to me.

Holding centre for me means staying deeply present with my whole experience.

Before discovering this magnificent practice, I would be very rarely ‘holding centre’.
I would be rushing from one thing to the next
I would be living in the future.
Even when I got to the thing I was living for, I would already be onto the next.
I would get overwhelmed by all the things to do, and my system would be in survival.
I remember this quality in me from being very young.

The last 20+ years has been a dedication to ‘holding centre’.
This has changed over the years, but now this presence also comes with a sense of allowing.

The ‘things to do’ has changed over time but the busyness and demands of our lives remain.

If we don’t hold centre, we will be pulled, dragged and pushed in all the directions external stimuli will take us; at the cost of loosing connection with ourselves.

Of course there are times when old habits of thinking and being creep in, but this is the practice. We notice, we smile and we come back to

HOLDING CENTRE

It takes dedication; it takes practice.
To help you practice I would love to send you a free Mountain Meditation .

Perimenopause is something I am just starting to understand. I know it is inevitable, I know my body will change, but I am at the 'anticipation stage'....
In the meantime I'm using the tools and methods that I know help keep me balanced, connected, strong and subtle.

Our next 1/2 day retreat will help guide you through these too.

In 3 hours together we will:

✨ Flow with embodied movement, feeling deeply connected to all the layers of the body. Grounding, balancing, strengthening alongside stillness in long held yin poses.
🌱 Connecting to the earth and water elements of nature and meridian theory
🙏Embracing ancient practices of both Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Philosophy
❤️ Creating your own aromatherapy gift relevant to your symptoms and stage with with guidance on self-massage
💛 Experiencing a nourishing yoga nidra

If you would like to join us, comment ❤️ or follow the link on my bio.

In a fast paced world we can be forgiven for always looking at what's next.
It's important to pause and reflect on any growth/change/transformations we have made to get to this point.
And beyond that to work towards gratitude for what we have and who we are now.
In this very moment.

Curiosity over judgement
Enquiry over ego

Both of these qualities are rooted in mindfulness.
A practice that doesn't expect perfection but does offer observation of what is.

This is how we learn about ourselves and ultimately begin to live with open compassion for how we can grow, change and transform.

.sattva.life shared this the other day, when my nervous system was probably on the 3rd image.
In one of my recent posts I described how important it is for me to keep my morning ritual; not to be inflexible and fixed but because these practices support me; as the waves churn and crash, and when they calm and settle. The practice is a constant. It doesn't always look the same, but it is there.
The practice can't stop life happening around you, it doesn't stop you feeling all the emotions that come with unsettling events, but it does allow you to to ride with it. Not fight it, not to deny it, but to allow it.
As Rumi said in his poem the Guest House "This being human is a guest house, every morning a new arrival.....welcome and entertain them all".

With love xx ❤

Today marks the start of the summer holidays in our house. A welcome break from the busyness of the end of term, and a change of routine.

Some elements I need a break from, and some I don't.
When some of our routine is sacred to us, it becomes a ritual. It is an essential part of our day, that keeps us connected, grounded, and present. In the past I have let this 'ritual' fall away during the holidays. But I recognise the impact it has on my overall sense of peace, how I show up in the world, how present I am for my family and the impact on my sanity!
And so for this holiday, I am making a commitment to myself, to keep elements (if not all) of my sacred routine/ritual. For myself and everyone I share my life with.
