🐣Easter Sunday feels like one of those days where things slow down a bit.

Seeing people you love.
Getting outside.
A walk, some fresh air, maybe a bit of time in the garden.

It’s usually nothing big.
Just small things that feel good.

And often, that’s exactly what the body needs.

Not more doing.
Not more pressure.

Just a bit of space to move, breathe, and settle.
Those moments matter more

And if your body still feels like it needs a bit more support, your always welcome.

🍰It’s my birthday weekend… and although I don’t drink, I’ve definitely overindulged a bit (a lot) on the food.

And you know what, that’s ok.

The body is really good at dealing with these things when we support it.

A bit more water.
A gentle walk.
Some fresh air.

Nothing extreme. No “reset”. No guilt.
Just helping things move again.

That’s how the lymphatic system works best, with small, consistent support, not big reactions.
Back to normal, gently.

A client left me this today…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“My first experience of lymphatic drainage massage and I would definitely go back. Sonia clearly knows what she’s doing and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Lovely person, lovely place, so pleased I gave it a try.”

It’s always nice to hear, but the bit that stands out to me is “so pleased I gave it a try.”

A lot of people aren’t quite sure what MLD is, or whether it’s right for them.

They just know their body doesn’t feel quite right.

Then they come in… and realise how much they needed it.

If you’ve been thinking about it but weren’t sure, you’re always welcome to get in touch 💚

I’ve got a list a mile long at the moment.

Work, home, life admin… all the usual.

And if I’m honest, I haven’t put anything on there that’s actually for me.

It’s my birthday this weekend, which has made me stop and think a bit.

Because if I don’t put something on that list that’s just for me, it won’t happen.

I see this a lot, people waiting until everything else is done before they rest or take a break.

But there’s always something else.

Sometimes you have to put yourself on the list.

Not at the end. Somewhere in the middle.

🌿 What are the most common signs of lipoedema?

It’s something I’m seeing more and more, and it’s often misunderstood.

Some of the signs people notice are:

• fat that builds up around the hips, thighs and legs (often evenly on both sides)
• legs that feel heavy, tender or painful to touch
• bruising easily
• difficulty losing fat in these areas, even with diet and exercise
• a clear difference between the upper and lower body

A lot of people are told it’s just weight gain.

But lipoedema is different, and being told to “just lose weight” can be incredibly frustrating.

Should you see a doctor?

If this sounds familiar, it’s always a good idea to speak to your GP or a specialist.

Getting the right understanding matters.

From my side, I don’t diagnose, but I do support people with gentle lymphatic work to help with comfort, heaviness and that feeling of pressure in the body.

You’re not imagining it.

And you don’t have to just put up with it.

A question I often get asked:

“What actually is lymphoedema… and why would I need MLD?”

Lymphoedema is a build-up of fluid that the body isn’t able to move properly.

It can happen when the lymphatic system isn’t working as it should, often after surgery, cancer treatment, or sometimes for no obvious reason.

People usually notice things like:

• swelling in an arm, leg, or another area
• a feeling of heaviness or tightness
• skin feeling stretched or uncomfortable

This is where manual lymphatic drainage comes in.

MLD is a very gentle, specialised treatment that helps encourage that fluid to move again, supporting the pathways that are still working and easing the pressure in the area.

It’s not about pushing or forcing.

It’s about working with the body in a safe, controlled way.

Done properly, it can make a real difference to how the body feels day to day.

🌿 It’s not just for lymphoedema.

A lot of people think Manual Lymphatic Drainage is only for things like lymphoedema or post-surgery recovery.

And yes, it’s really important in those cases.

But it’s not just for that.

I see people benefit from MLD for all sorts of things:

• lipoedema
• stress and anxiety
• that wired-but-tired feeling
• poor sleep
• headaches, migraines & jaw (TMJ) tension
• hayfever and sinus congestion
• hormonal changes and menopause
• acne and skin inflammation
• bloating and sluggish digestion
• fatigue, low energy & brain fog
• immune support and post-illness recovery
• swelling after travel
• general puffiness or feeling heavy and “off”
• grief and trauma support

It’s not about fixing one specific problem.

It’s about supporting the body as a whole, especially when it’s been under pressure for a while.

Most people don’t realise how much they’ve been holding until it starts to shift.

⏰ What we gain > what we lose.

The clocks went forward today.

Always a bit of a mixed one.

Losing an hour of sleep isn’t ideal, but the longer, lighter evenings feel like a real shift.

More time outside.
More space at the end of the day.
A bit more breathing room.

It’s easy to focus on what we’ve lost, but there’s something in choosing to notice what we’ve gained instead.

The body feels that too.

A bit more light, a bit more movement, a bit more time to slow things down.

Sometimes small shifts like this are enough to help things start to feel a little easier again.

🌿 A week into spring and the sun’s out again ☀️

It feels like everything is starting to move a little more.

If you’re living with lipoedema, this time of year can be a good point to gently start building a bit of routine again.

Not anything big or strict.

Just small steps.

A short walk.
A bit more movement in the day.
Taking a little more care of your body instead of pushing through.

It’s not about doing everything perfectly.

It’s about doing something that works for you, consistently.

The body responds really well to that, especially when it’s supported, not forced.

Sometimes this time of year is less about “starting over” and more about starting gently.

🌿 The sun was back out today, which was most welcome, even if it was still chilly first thing.

It’s actually one of the reasons I’ve just had a new aircon heating system fitted in the studio.

Not as a luxury, but because temperature really matters for a lot of the people I see.

If your nervous system is already on edge, being too cold (or too warm) can make it harder for the body to settle.

And for clients with lymphoedema or post-surgery changes, keeping the body at a comfortable, steady temperature is really important too.

The aim is always to create the right environment, so the body feels safe enough to let go.

Sometimes it’s the small details that make the biggest difference.

🌿 Nearly a week into spring… and we’ve had hailstones today.

It’s a good reminder that the body can feel just as unsettled as the weather.

Something I think is really important to say, especially for anyone with lymphoedema or concerns around swelling.

Manual lymphatic drainage needs to be done correctly.

It’s not just a gentle massage.

The lymphatic system follows very specific pathways, and when lymph nodes have been removed or damaged, the body relies on adapted routes.

If those pathways aren’t understood, treatment can be ineffective or in some cases, make things feel worse rather than better.

That’s why proper training and a tailored approach really matter.

Done well, MLD can support the body in a safe, gentle, and effective way.

I’ll be sharing more about this in next week’s newsletter, as it’s something I’m really passionate about.

🌿 People don’t realise how much tension they’re holding in their jaw.

It’s often the last place they notice.

Clenching without thinking.
Teeth pressed together.
A tight, tired feeling around the face and head.

Then they lie down and it slowly starts to soften.

And they say,
“I didn’t realise I was holding that.”

Jaw tension is such a common place for stress to sit, especially when the nervous system has been “on” for a while.

This is where gentle lymphatic work around the face and head can really help.

It’s not about forcing anything.

Just giving the body a chance to settle, and letting that tension ease on its own.

💚

Check your jaw now.
Notice if its tense or relaxed.
