Someone just asked "how can PEMF be non-invasive" and yet still work at cellular level. Great Q, so I wanted to share my answer.
I have First Class BSc Hons Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Clinical Medicine from Cambridge - totally understand the need for research and citations and more than happy to share.
There is so much. A good start is with Dr William Pawluk, who has written two seminal texts on PEMF and provides lots of resources. https://www.drpawluk.com.
How can a non-invasive therapy act at the cellular level?
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy (PEMF) is considered non-invasive because it delivers pulsed magnetic fields externally, without breaching the skin or entering the body. These fields pe*****te tissues and induce weak electrical currents that interact with cell membranes and organelles.
A key cellular target is the mitochondrion—the site of oxidative phosphorylation and ATP (adenosine triphosphate) synthesis.
Evidence shows PEMFs can:
Stabilise mitochondrial membrane potential
Enhance electron transport chain efficiency
Increase ATP production, supplying energy for DNA/RNA transcription, protein synthesis, ion transport, and repair
Reduce reactive oxygen species (ROS), protecting mitochondrial integrity
This explains how a non-invasive, biophysical input can drive measurable biochemical and functional outcomes.

So, although PEMF is completely non-invasive, it acts directly at the cellular level, enhancing mitochondrial ATP production and restoring bioenergetic balance.
