Christmas Day and social gatherings tips
- [ ] The broken record - repeating the same phrase (no I don’t want a drink thanks, I’m full thanks) anything you want to say no to
- [ ] I statements- when you…I feel…I’d like you to… ( this is an assertive way of communicating)
- [ ] Create a “formula for success” this is planning what you need to help you manage as much as possible (could be limiting time with others, having an exit plan, taking breaks, communicating needs to someone you trust, having a cue/codeword with others when you needs a break or need to leave)
- [ ] Social gatherings can be a battery drain even with people you enjoy being around, plan how you will promote natural happy hormones (oxytocin serotonin endorphins dopamine)
- [ ] Reach out to helplines or friends/family if you are struggling
