Density. It is the single most important factor when choosing your piece and yet it is often way down the list of priorities, behind colour and other things that can be changed easily.
Agnes is our featherlight girl and she is glorious, but she is an enhancer, there to boost and blend with what you already have. If you have significant thinning or patches you want properly covered, sadly Agnes is not your girl.
Lois could be. Fuller, denser, and designed to fully cover the bits you don’t want to see.
I wear both, for very different reasons, and I know from prior (before Betsy) personal experience what happens when you choose the wrong density for your needs.
Get the density right and everything else falls into place. Get it wrong and no topper in the world will do what you need it to do. Adding density is a genius solution but you will never get Agnes to behave like Lois, if you need Lois, Agnes won’t do.

Myth Busting the wind fear? Because we hear about it constantly and some reassurance is required.
“What if she blows off?” “What if someone sees my horrible hairline?”
So here are me and Betsy (one of my lovely Lois Hair Toppers) in a gale force wind to show you what actually happens. She moves, because she is real human hair and behaves just like your own. But she does not budge from where she is supposed to be, because that is what a properly placed topper does.
And placement really is the magic word. On a windy day your topper needs to sit far enough forward to keep your natural hairline well out of the picture, placement I s something that you will get the hang of with a little practice.
BTW me and Betsy look completely wild and wanton now….. I kind of like it 🤣

When you first get a hair topper, the first few times are just for you and your mirror. Nobody else needs to be involved.
You are going to clip it in and think the angle is wrong. It is. Adjust it. You are going to wonder if it sits too far forward. It might. Move it back half a centimetre. You are going to catch it in a certain light and panic slightly. That is completely normal and it passes.
Give yourself the same patience you would give a friend who was learning something new.
What I always suggest to first time wearers is to start with a fringe. Honestly it is the kindest place to begin because it softens the hairline beautifully, it gives you a little less to worry about in terms of blending, and it is so forgiving while you are still finding your feet with placement and angles.
There is no test to pass and you can take your time. Some mornings it goes on perfectly and some mornings you fiddle with it for ten minutes and that is just part of getting to know each other.
I always tell our clients to be kind to themselves, it’s going to take a little time and patience but you will get there and when you do, you will forget all the pain (sound familiar? ) 🩷 BBx

Part 1 of our Making Your Topper Look Amazing series — and we are starting with the parting because I know it is the thing that causes the most anxiety for so many of you.
In this video I walk you through a few simple tricks to make a monofilament parting look far more realistic. A small root shadow, a strip of scar tape, and a touch of concealer go a long way. No bulk, easy to do and a much more natural result.
