Beautiful Betsy is a UK and European retailer and distributor of hair toppers and hair enhancers providing beautiful solutions for women with hair loss and thinning. Hair loss can occur at any point in our lives and for some it may be a temporary challenge after child birth, illness or following a life changing event. Some other conditions such as PCOS, Lupus, Thyroid, Alopecia etc. can leave us with more permanent issues and getting older when you had fine hair to begin with has its challenges as our bodies change and hormone levels alter. Whatever the reason hair loss is a distressing condition that attacks our self esteem and causes daily anxiety about our appearance and our value as women. Its still a taboo subject despite hair loss and thinning affecting millions of women all over the world and for many its a secret they don't want to share. Here at Beautiful Betsy we understand the anguish and the misery, we suffered at the hands of hair loss ourselves and you can be sure of an empathetic welcome. Part 1 of our Making Your Topper Look Amazing series — and we are starting with the parting because I know it is the thing that causes the most anxiety for so many of you.
In this video I walk you through a few simple tricks to make a monofilament parting look far more realistic. A small root shadow, a strip of scar tape, and a touch of concealer go a long way. No bulk, easy to do and a much more natural result.

What I wish I knew before I bought my first hair topper……

I have worn hair for a long time and have worn hair toppers for over thirteen years. When I bought my first one, the choice was limited. I chose a dark brown because it felt closest, but it never truly felt like me. I wore it as it came because I thought that was what you were supposed to do.

At the time, there was very little guidance. Most of us believed that if you cut it or coloured it, you would ruin it. So we left them untouched and hoped they would somehow work.

It was only when that first topper reached the end of its life that I allowed myself to experiment. I committed the cardinal sin and highlighted her with bleach. adjusted the colour with a shampoo in toner, hacked big chunks off her and learned something that has shaped how I guide women now.

You do not need an exact match. You need the right starting point.

In most cases, it is better to begin with a lighter base and build depth through toning, lowlights or a root. That is how you create something that blends naturally and feels like your own hair, particularly around the face where it matters most.

This is exactly how I approach every piece I wear now, including my lovely Lois. She was always a beautiful piece of hair but she became right for me through the changes I made to her.
