‼️⭐️NEW LIFESAVERS IN THE COMMUNITY ‼️⭐️

Throughout the first week of March 2026 year 10 students took part in first aid training.

200 Year 10 students at The St Leonard’s Academy are now all clued up in how to administer basic first aid training, including using a defibrillator, thanks to the ongoing Collaboration between St Leonards Academy and Siren Medical Training providing an accessible course for students, utilising both an e-learning platform and practical sessions to hone skills!

Teaching CPR in schools isn’t just about lifesaving skills, it’s about empowering young people with the confidence to act when every second counts.

Over 70% of students trained in CPR say they’d feel ready to help in an emergency. That confidence can be the difference between life and death.

Allergy training to become compulsory across all schools in England, says government.

It will be compulsory from September 2026 for all schools to have recommended allergy safeguards in place.

Well done all - great work

In what’s believed to be the first scheme of its kind in the UK, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has partnered with Act Fast First Aid to fit life-saving defibrillators to its entire fleet of bin collection lorries. These vehicles are out in our neighbourhoods every single day and now, they’re equipped to provide defibrillators in medical emergencies whenever and wherever they happen.

The campaign was officially launched by Councillor Paul West, alongside refuse crew members Andrew Fowler and Jay Hughes, highlighting the vital role frontline teams play in supporting the communities they serve.

This forward-thinking project demonstrates the power of practical innovation by turning everyday service vehicles into potential life-saving responders. This initiative could make a critical difference in those first moments of a cardiac arrest emergency.
