🌸 Have You Just Found Out You’re Pregnant?

🌸 I recommend that you start to plan for your Birth Now!

Finding out you’re pregnant can be one of the most incredible moments in life 💕

While it might feel early to think about birth, the truth is, the best time to start preparing is now.

Planning ahead doesn’t mean rushing, it means giving yourself time to understand, connect, and feel confident about what’s to come.

Here are some gentle ways to start preparing for your birth journey:

🌻 Visualise Your Birth

Spend a few minutes each day imagining how you’d like your labour and birth to feel.

Visualisation helps reduce fear and builds a sense of calm confidence.
Picture yourself surrounded by support, breathing deeply, and meeting your baby for the very first time.

💓Learn About the Stages of Labour

Knowledge is empowering!

Take time to read about the different stages of labour.
early labour, active labour, transition, birth and the signs that tell you things are progressing.

When you know what’s normal, you’ll feel more prepared and less anxious.

💞 Connect With Your Baby Every Day

You can start bonding right now.

Talk or sing to your baby, place your hands on your bump, and take quiet moments to simply be together.

💕Watch Positive Birth Videos

Seeing real births (especially calm, empowering ones) can help you understand what to expect and dissolve fear.

Focus on positive experiences that align with your birth preferences whether hospital or home.

🌸 Read and Learn

There are wonderful books that cover everything from the physiology of birth to mindfulness and positive birthing stories.

The more informed you are, the more confident you’ll feel in making choices that suit you and your baby.

🩷Remember that birth preparation isn’t just about your body, it’s about your mind, emotions, and connection with your baby.

Every step you take now lays the foundation for a calm, empowered, and positive birth experience. 🫶🏻

🌸 What Does a Doula Actually Do? 🌸

As a doula, my role is to walk beside you through one of life’s most powerful transitions
offering calm, steady support every step of the way.

A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational care during pregnancy, birth, and parenting.

💕Emotional support — a listening ear, gentle reassurance, and a grounding presence when things feel overwhelming.

💕 Physical support — massage, positioning, breath work, creating a peaceful birth and home environment.

💕 Informational support — helping you understand your options so you can make choices that feel right for you and your family.

I don’t replace your partner or medical team I work alongside them, helping everyone feel more connected and confident.

My goal is simple:

to help you feel safe, supported, and empowered as you bring your baby into the world 🌸

💕

Breastfeeding doesn’t just make milk.. it keeps the hormone prolactin high, which rewires her brain to be more alert, sensitive, and tuned in to the baby.

At the same time, hormones like estrogen and progesterone stay low, which affects her mood, energy, sleep, and even intimacy.

So if she’s more tired, more emotional, or more focused on the baby than anything else.. it’s not “just in her head.”

It’s biology.

Breastfeeding keeps her body and mind in a postpartum state for as long as she nurses. She’s not back to “normal” yet. She’s doing life-sustaining, body-altering, and emotionally demanding work every single day.

Thank you for the patience, understanding, and effort in taking care of her. 🤍

🌻As autumn arrives, it’s a gentle reminder to slow down

Take time to rest, breathe, and connect with your baby 🌸

whether through a quiet walk, a few deep breaths, or simply placing your hands on your bump💕

Slowing down isn’t just for you, it’s a gift for your little one too 🌸

🌸 Do you feel like you are constantly at loggerheads with your child? 🌸

Something I have learnt, having first become a parent in my late teens, and now raising young children in my 40s is this:

💓MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR YOURSELF 💓

Parenting doesn’t need to feel like a daily power struggle.

In my younger years, I often thought being a “good mum” meant saying no more often than yes, controlling situations, trying to shape behaviour, keeping everything in line.

But with time (and a whole lot of perspective), I’ve realised something powerful:

🌻Parenting is far more enjoyable when you loosen your grip🌻

Say yes to the little things.
Yes to the messy play, yes to the extra story, yes to the outfit that doesn’t match.

Sometimes the battles we think we need to fight are really just our need to control, not our children’s need to be corrected.

🌸 When you give yourself permission to let go, you give your children room to grow, explore, feel trusted, and you give yourself the gift of peace

🩷 parenting should be something we enjoy 💕not something we endure 💓

💓 Fitting It All In 💓
A New Kind of Balance

Life does not pause when you become a parent, it just reshapes.

The things you once did so freely,
coffee dates, workouts, spontaneous plans, long chats with friends, deep work sessions.

They don’t disappear but they do shift.
🌸And that is okay.

I used to think I had to “get back” to who I was before and that my baby would just slot into my life.

But becoming a parent is a transformation.

It’s not about going back but about evolving forward.

Moulding a version of you that includes this incredible new role.

Now, I am not just a parent.
I am still a wife, a daughter, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour.

And somehow, I am learning to weave those threads together in a new rhythm.

Some days it is seamless, most days it’s not.

Sometimes fitting it all in means inviting your child into the moments you once did alone

Sometimes it means letting go of perfection and embracing “good enough.”

Sometimes it means saying no more often, so you can say yes to what really matters.

🌸To all the parents reshaping themselves around their little ones while still trying to honour all the other parts of who they are.

You are not failing.💕You are creating. 💕
🌻And that is powerful🌻

✨ Yoga for Pregnancy & Birth Education ✨

I’m so excited to be teaching Yoga for Pregnancy & Birth Education class at Elgin Yoga Centre starting Monday, Sept 29th at 6:30pm. 🌸

These classes are Scaravelli-inspired, focusing on softness, release, and gentle movement to help you prepare for birth with ease and confidence.

Each session will also include time for birth education, open discussion, and questions — all shared over a comforting cup of tea. ☕💛 I have been a doula for over 15 years, I teach birth preparation workshops and run doula training programs, so have lots of experience to share.

This is a nurturing space to connect with your body, your baby, and other parents-to-be. It's a wonderful and supportive way to prepare for your birth and transition to motherhood.
