Join me on Monday evenings for Pilates at Bedale Methodist Church, 6–7pm. A mixed-ability class where strength meets ease through flowing connections and mindful movement.

Pilates supports you in so many powerful ways:
• Builds deep, intelligent core strength
• Improves posture and functional mobility
• Increases flexibility and joint stability
• Enhances balance, coordination, and body awareness
• Creates steadiness in both body and mind

Whether you're new to Pilates or deepening an existing practice, you’re welcome exactly as you are.

I'm preparing for this week's Restorative yoga classes with this 60 minute practise by Dr Melissa West on YouTube. This class focuses on poses to help aid digestion.

Autumn is great time of year to focus on healthy digestion, as the air element is rising and becoming drier, which can cause constipation, bloating and gas. The floor based poses in this class help to stretch and compress the intestines and colon, aiding the movement of food through the body.

Taking time out to relax, breathe deeply, connect with the earth and "just be", helps our energy body to digest the enormous amount of stimulation we come into contact with each day. Restorative yoga is a great way to gently process and release excessive and stagnant energy, leaving you feel calmer, more centred and connected.

This student has been coming to my classes every week since I went full time teaching yoga and Pilates back in April.

Their hard work, commitment and perseverance, have shown what can be achieved in a relatively short space of time. Just 6 months.

It hasn't always been easy, they've had their challenges along the way. But they modify to suit the needs of their body, respect their boundaries by taking breaks when needed, and most importantly, come to class each week with a "I'll give it a go and do what I can!" attitude. The only thing we really need to practise 🙏

Thank you to this student for bringing sunshine to every class, for being a real cheerleader, and for taking the time to write this feedback. You are greatly appreciated ❤️ Keep up the fantastic work!

I'm getting some brilliant feedback about my new mixed ability Pilates class in on Monday nights. Thank you to those of you who have joined me so far!

Whether you're a total beginner, haven't practiced for a while, or you're a Pilates devotee, there's something for everyone to experience and enjoy. Class is friendly, fun, welcoming and inclusive.

Drop in price is £10 and advanced booking is required.
You also need to bring your own mat.

6-7pm, Bedale Methodist Church, every Monday night.

REMEMBERING THE HANDS BEHIND THINGS

The modern world’s conveniences are amazing, really. We can tap a screen and have almost anything delivered to our door, sometimes in a matter of hours.

But sometimes I feel a kind of emptiness in this, a quiet cry from the soul. We rarely see, hear, or truly interact with the people who make, design, package, or grow the things we use.

Our nervous systems were never built for a faceless world. I think we all long for a sense of connection, not just to a “brand”, but to the many hands behind it. The growers, the designers, the packers, the makers. The people. Their hearts. Their hopes and dreams.

Before we click “buy” or take something off a shelf, we can pause for a moment, take a breath, and *remember* the effort and care behind what we are receiving.

We might even choose a local independent shop, a small business, or an artisan, someone whose name we know.

There is something calming and deeply restful about that. A smile. A human gesture. A shared instant of lightness. A moment of gratitude.

The sense that this exchange, however small, matters.

Progress will keep moving and moving, of course. But maybe we can move with it a little more consciously, remembering the humans behind the systems, their hard work, their pain, their passions… and in doing so, we’ll keep our own nervous systems a little more connected, calm… and alive.

What is Ayurveda?

The Ayurvedic Institute describes Ayurveda as follows;

" Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science... Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.”

I'm teaming up with my good friend Dorothy Matthew to deliver this workshop. Dorothy is a York based ex corporate professional turned Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coach, Psychology of Eating Coach,
Breath Coach, and a Dru and Yin Yoga Teacher.

In this 3 hour workshop, you will enjoy:

~ 45 minutes of easy going yoga flow, ideal for a Saturday afternoon.
~ 30 minutes of relaxing yoga Nidra.
~ Ayurvedic snacks and refreshments.
~ 60 minute talk on the Ayurvedic habits.
~ Time at the end for Q&A.

No previous experience in yoga or Ayurveda is required. Open to all.

I have a few spaces left in my new Pilates class at Bedale Methodist Church on Monday night, 6-7pm.

The class is mixed ability so there will be lots of modifications to suit your individual ability, body and energy on the night.

You'll enjoy flowing movement, classical Pilates exercises, some more modern, creative elements thrown in for fun (!) stretches and a little relaxation, too. A nicely rounded practise for body, breath and mind, all in a friendly, inclusive, light hearted environment.
