Are you 50+, local to Snape Institute near Bedale, and thinking about starting a regular yoga practice?

Designed with over-50s in mind, this weekly Tuesday morning class is yoga for people who want to keep moving well.

To stay supple. To promote balance and posture.

To care for joints, backs, hips and shoulders, improving mobility and strength in every class.

Each class finishes with deep relaxation, and we frequently practise meditation and breath work, to help settle our mind and calm our nervous system. As yoga is as much about managing our mind as our body.

Beginners are very welcome. You don’t need to be flexible or experienced. You simply need a willingness to move, breathe, and meet yourself as you are.

The practice is steady, thoughtful, and adaptable. Options are offered throughout, so everyone can work at a level that feels supportive and sustainable.

(Though don't be fooled into thinking this is softcore stuff - my Snape ladies hold the record for the strongest, longest held planks!)

Get in touch if you're keen to know more. Happy to chat anytime.

• Tuesday mornings, 9.30-10.45am
• Snape Village Hall
• Mixed ability • 50+ friendly
• £11 drop in £9.50 for block bookings
• Advanced booking required

If you haven't heard of Valerie the incredible Aussie sausage dog yet, take 10 minutes and read this heart warming story. Even the most pampered amongst us can't completely resist the call to the wild...

We could learn a lot from the pampered sausage dog who became a canine Bear Grylls. Perhaps all of us are capable of more than we might expect

Happy 2026, everyone! 🎉🎊🐎🔥

I received this poem from my lovely student Manuela, which is a traditional Romanian New Years Eve wish. A day late, but thought to share anyway as it's rather beautiful. Thank you Manuela! 🙏

May your 2026, the year of the fire horse, be full of health, happiness and laughter. And may you gallop towards your dreams like your tail is on fire 😉

---------------------------------------

Now the year is turning round,
Old one fading, new is found,
We have come to wish you well,
Hear the tale we have to tell.

Fields once bare now dream of grain,
Rain will fall and fall again,
Plough goes deep, the soil is kind,
Hope is sown in heart and mind.

Health to keep you strong and true,
Luck to walk the year with you,
Peace within these walls to stay,
Laughter light your every day.

May your table never lack,
Bread and wine and friends come back,
May the fire burn warm and bright,
Through the coldest winter night.

And when troubles cross your way,
May they shrink and drift away,
Like the frost beneath the sun,
Gone before the day’s begun.

So we urge you, hear our cheer,
For the coming of the year,
From old customs, joy we bring,
Good New Year to everything!

As certain as the crowing cockerel
cue'd by the morning Sun,
alarming the world each morning
that a new day has begun,
that everything has changed
and yet remains exactly the same,
so too does light in time
drive out the dark.

Happy Winter Solstice everyone. May this time of darkness be beneficial to your growth, as you remain guided by the ever present light within 🔥

*𝗡𝗘𝗪* 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 serving Kirkby Malzeard Masham Ripon Bedale and beyond!

Hi! I’m Charlotte, and I am thrilled to announce that herbal medicine consultations are now available in and around

As a fully qualified I offer one-to-one consultations that blend traditional plant medicine with modern scientific knowledge. The goal of treatment is to uncover the root causes of ill health, and support your body’s natural capacity to heal.

I can help people with long standing health problems, as well as acute ailments. Herbal medicine is safe, effective, and - especially with the help of a qualified herbalist - can be used alongside medication from your doctor.

✨ Appointments are available for new patients in-clinic in Kirkby Malzeard. Home and online visits are also available, and reduced rates are offered monthly for those on low incomes.

Visit wildrootsherbalmedicine.co.uk for more, or to book an appointment.

✨ 10 Tips to Fight the Festive Frazzle ✨

Because this season can feel like a glittery whirlwind — exciting, fun and indulgent... And a little too good at knocking us off our centre!

1. Keep your daily movement ritual alive.
Just ten minutes. A stretch. A twist. A handful of cleansing breaths. Small movement keeps the body from sinking into seasonal slumber.

2. Don’t say yes to everything.
Your time is finite, your energy even more so. Choose the gatherings that feel nourishing, not draining.

3. Save the sugar rush for closer to Christmas.
The earlier it begins, the harder it becomes to steady yourself. Let sweetness be something to look forward to, not something that sweeps you away.

4. Take a short walk every day.
Even in the cold. Fresh air clears the mind like nothing else.

5. Guard a pocket of quiet each evening.
Herbal tea, soft lighting, maybe a comedy box set or Christmas film. A small ritual that soothes your nervous system back into safety.

6. Keep your sleep sacred.
Late nights are tempting, but consistency is key. Your mood, mind and body will thank you come January.

7. Hydrate like it’s your winter superpower.
Central heating and festive fizz are sneaky little thieves of hydration! Sip warm water regularly throughout the day.

8. Stay connected to people who steady you.
A text. A voice note. A cuppa. Not everything has to be a big event. (It's ok to forgo social gatherings if you're a one-on-one kinda person.)

9. Let go of perfect.
Perfect gifts, perfect plans, perfect family dynamics — none of them exist. Embrace the messy imperfection of your life, exactly as it is.

10. Make room for joy on purpose.
Not the performative kind, but the small, authentic moments: good food, warm socks, a song you love, a stretch that feels like a reset. Maybe some chocolate 🍫😉
