This week in class we've focused on the solar plexus - manipura chakra - which is located at the centre of our navel, related to the digestive system. Through strengthening twists we've been generating warmth in the body, reconnecting with the element of fire within, and the light around (especially as the nights draw in!) 🌞

"Manipura" can be translated as "city of jewels", and it is our personal power centre, confidence, self-esteem and determination. Fire is transformative yet hard to control, easily spilling into anger, frustration, rage - notice how this shows up in the body, mind and breath 🔥

Our next Monthly Yoga Nidra – Winter Solstice
Sunday 21 December, 5.30–7.00pm, Clifton

As we approach the winter solstice – the shortest day and deepest point of the season – this session will be an invitation to pause, find balance and take a moment for yourself before the holidays begin.

Yoga nidra is a deeply restful, effortless guided horizontal meditation, designed to gently settle the mind and body. A quiet space to unwind, reset and rest in community at this reflective time of year.

You’re welcome to bring blankets, cushions, warm layers or anything that helps you get cosy and comfortable. Light refreshments are included.

Cost: £15 per person (includes refreshments)

We've been connecting to the sacral (svadhisthana) chakra in class this week:

🌀 Connecting to everything that flows in the body through playful and free movements with the hips and pelvic bowl
🌀 Considering our ability to adapt and shift
🌀 Focusing on our breath traveling in and going back out of the body like the waves of the ocean

These photos were taken on a beach in Wales earlier this year, I loved how the water drew patterns in the sand as it made its way back to the sea... A quiet strength and determination. Like how a tiny stream eventually carves its way through the earth and becomes a river 🌊

Thank you to everyone who joined our Monthly Yoga Nidra on Sunday evening. It was a beautiful practice full of connection and community. Our yoga nidra focused on letting go with the breath - a spacious yet grounding practice welcoming space into the earth of the body 🔺✨🌎 Complete with tea, chocolate and chat afterwards!

As I look forward to our next Monthly Yoga Nidra on Sunday 9 November, I wanted to share this short practice with you 🌙

A 15-minute yoga nidra from our weekly Friday morning class as part of our exploration of strength in body, mind and breath - a restful journey inviting in courage and steadiness, with gentle spinal breathing and koshi chimes ✨

I invite you to take 15 minutes to cosy up, listen and restore (and maybe set a gentle alarm for 20 minutes if you’re worried about drifting off!)

The practice weaves in words from ‘The River’ by Sandra Sabatini (Breath: The Essence of Yoga, 2000) and ‘For Courage’ by John O’Donohue (Benedictus, 2007). The spinal breathing was inspired by the course I’ve recently begun, Embodying the Teachings of Ta**ra 🔻

Excited to have started a new course at the weekend - 'Embodying The Teachings of Ta**ra' - a deep dive into the Vijñāna Bhairava Ta**ra 🔻🔺 There are many translations of this ancient text, and we're focusing on Lorin Roche's 'Radiance Sutras'. Looking forward to this learning unfolding over the next 10 months with the wonderful Sarah O'Connor and Tiffany Thorne, embodied learning from the heart not the head ❤️

🌙Next Monthly Yoga Nidra – Sunday 9 November, 5.30pm🌙

Hello everyone,

As the evenings draw in, I’m looking forward to gathering again for our next Monthly Yoga Nidra - a gentle, restorative practice of rest, connection and slowing down. It’s not always easy to stop, but this treasure of a practice can help.

You’ll be guided through yoga nidra - sometimes called yogic sleep - a deeply restful, guided meditation where you lie down, get cosy with blankets and cushions, and allow yourself to drift into stillness. We’ll finish with light refreshments shared in community.

Arrive just as you are - no experience needed.
Cost: £15 per person. Booking essential.
