I can’t even imagine how devastating it must be to lose an autistic child through failings and lack of understanding or training.

is so important and we should all be doing our best efforts to back this issue so that training is mandatory for everyone.

For anyone that uses Family Fund and didn’t already know……

For ENGLAND only, you must if you made your last request before September 2022 register using their new system and despite only having received an email last year to say that they were changing applications to 18 monthly, the goalpost has been moved even further back to 24 months! This hasn’t changed for Wales or Scotland! To add insult to injury, Family Fund have NOT notified anyone of this change 👎🏻

I must ask why? Why do families in England not need as much help and support or a break as much as those in Scotland or Wales do?

The information that Family Fund want you to now complete is tiresome, with questions such as “what medication is your child taking?” “What dosage?” 🤯

I’m sorry but as long as a letter listing medical condition and a professional/practioner listed as a verifier then why on earth would this information be needed? Who is using it and what for? Our children don’t have any privacy as it is, would you be happy handing over your medical history and list of medications to a none medical professional?

This is by no means meant as a dig to Family Fund, with the way that the economic climate is, I’m sure they are inundated with applications! But who is making a stand for us parents and carers in England who’ve been dealt the short straw, who makes these descisions🤷🏼‍♀️

If anyone that needs help filling in the very lengthy and unnecessary application, I’d be happy to help or you can seek help from a professional such as health visitor or social worker, but again that would be adding to their already busy workload.

Hoping for some sort of a response from Family Fund on the issues raised 🤞🏻

This week is the Free School Meals For All National Week of Action, a campaign to raise awareness for the rising levels of food poverty up and down the country and the importance of having a balanced healthy diet.

It is not difficult, no child should be going to school on an empty stomach and it should be the priority of any responsible government to put an end to the desperate levels of food poverty that still exist in many of our communities.
