It is with deep and genuine sadness that we share that, due to health and family priorities, Sarah Stroud has made the difficult decision to step down from her role as Director of Zen Waters CIC.
The past year has taken a significant toll, and this decision was not made lightly. Zen Waters CIC was, and remains, something she helped nurture and build with immense care, commitment, and passion—very much her “baby,” just as it is mine. While she is stepping back from her formal role, we are grateful that Sarah will continue to remain involved in the background, offering insight and support where possible.
As part of this transition, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Ashton as Director of Zen Waters CIC.
For those who may not yet know Karen, she is a highly respected and successful business owner, having led the Holistic Therapies Training Academy for over 20 years. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with charities and support organisations, helping countless individuals advance both professionally and personally. Karen is a qualified CBT counsellor and holds over 50 professional qualifications, bringing an exceptional depth of knowledge, experience, and integrity that will undoubtedly strengthen and support the future growth of Zen Waters CIC.
Looking ahead, from April we will be expanding our provision by appointing external specialist staff in trauma-based counselling, alongside additional team members to support our continued development and reach.
While leadership evolves, our mission remains unchanged. Zen Waters CIC continues to stand firmly by the values and purpose on which it was founded—support, empowerment, and meaningful change, and saying no to Abuse. What has changed is our commitment to strengthening, refining, and expanding that vision to ensure we deliver even greater impact for those who need us most.
