Finally found the brilliant print out of the Pancamaya model by Sequence Wiz, based on the brilliant book Yoga for Transformation by Gary Kraftsow. And so I've been a ble to tidy up my thoughts and scribblings for this Saturday's Retreat day.
Working on mind body connections from ancient therapeutic models is tried and tested over millennia.
It's an honour and pleasure to share with folk who are interested and in need of support.

Our weekly sessions continue. And I thought this podcast about backpain was particularly interesting.
Any kind of pain can lead to anxiety and deep worry, perhaps even leading to depression so it's important to recognise how to tend to it. Self care is the key, rest but not taking to your bed can help along with appropriate pain relief for a couple of days with sudden onset backpain.
The interesting advice from the backpain specialist was with regards to movement and rehabilitation.
Many of the postures we do in class are perfect for spinal.mobility and care. We don't need numerous reps. But we do need mindful, breath based movements which we offer. They not only help with physical self care but also emotional a d psychological support.

A full house last night at our Brookenby class. Our meeting room is rather small, only 9 chairs, but luckily the hall we use for the mindful, breath based movement has plenty of space for us.
After Yoga with Rebecca had a week off to study Vedic chanting we had a great chat about the therapeutic effects of sound and music. And of course how everyone's taste is different.
It was good to reflect on sound as we used it as a therapeutic topic on our last Retreat Day as few weeks ago.

The physical part of the evening focused on how we can find support using the breath, taking us away from the very physical and material mindset we can all fall into when using the body. The breath as support has a beautiful dynamic to it challenging our imagination and neuroplasticity. Great for mental and emotional wellbeing.
Everyone was so relaxed at the end of the session there may have been a couple of snores 🙂
