😴 5-HTP is the precursor to melatonin. Your body converts it into serotonin and melatonin in the brain.

Let’s talk about methylfolate and depression.

Methylfolate is the active form of folic acid. It’s the only type of folate that can cross the blood-brain barrier and get into your brain.

Once inside your brain, it helps produce the feel-good neurotransmitters:

Serotonin

Dopamine

Noradrenaline

These brain chemicals influence your mood, motivation, appetite, pleasure, and sense of reward.

When folate is low, your body doesn’t have enough raw material to build these neurotransmitters.

Studies show that low levels of methylfolate are associated with depression and depressive disorders.

And taking methylfolate has been shown to help antidepressant medications work more effectively.
