🌟 Carers Rights Day 2025 | Shining a Light on Hidden Carers 🌟

Today, on Carers Rights Day, UB Healthcare celebrates the millions of unpaid carers across the UK who give their time, energy and love to support others—often while balancing work, family and their own wellbeing.

Through our Hidden Carers campaign with Carers Trust Solihull, we’ve spent over two years raising awareness of those carers who aren’t always recognised at work but whose caring roles shape daily life.
🔹 1 in 5 employees has caring responsibilities
🔹 22% don’t tell their employer, often due to fear of stigma
Hidden carers are everywhere, and when employers support them, teams thrive.

We proudly embed this programme nationally where we work, helping organisations:
• Spot hidden caring roles
• Reduce avoidable absence
• Improve retention and wellbeing
• Build workplaces where carers feel seen and valued

🎉 We're excited to share some exciting news from !

Last night at the The Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards, our Co-Founders, Uko and Harry, were awarded Start-up Entrepreneurs of the Year – Midlands Region! 🏆✨

This recognition is a testament to the passion, dedication, and relentless commitment of our entire UB Healthcare team, as well as the trust placed in us by our NHS partners, clients, and the individuals and families we support every day.

In Uko's words:
"When we founded UB Healthcare, our mission was simple: to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable individuals and communities, and to challenge a system too often driven by margins rather than people."

That mission continues to guide everything we do, from supporting NHS discharge teams, to delivering All-Age Continuing Care and complex care services, to championing compassionate, person-centred care.

💙 Supporting Men’s Mental Health – Every Conversation Matters

This Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to stand with colleagues, partners, and the wider healthcare community in breaking the silence around men’s wellbeing.

Some sobering facts:
📊 In England and Wales in 2023, the su***de rate for males was 17.4 deaths per 100,000 people — the highest level since 1999. Office for National Statistics
📊 Men aged 45–49 had the highest rate at 25.5 deaths per 100,000. Office for National Statistics
📊 Globally, men are around 3 to 4 times more likely to die by su***de than women. Wikipedia

As our Co-Founder and Director, Harry Bourton, says:
“In healthcare and in business, we talk a lot about resilience, but not enough about the cost of staying silent. Real strength is being honest with ourselves, talking early, and supporting each other without judgment.”

At UB Healthcare, we’re turning commitment into action by:

UB Healthcare honours all those who gave their lives in conflict, those who returned forever changed, and the families and communities who continue to carry their legacy.

We are grateful for the courage, sacrifice and service of our Armed Forces—past and present.
