I have enjoyed creating my new therapeutic space, shaped around the needs of clients. I view my counselling room as an element within the therapeutic process, a neutral space for safely exploring painful material. Reflecting on my own experiences of personal therapy I don’t just remember the counsellors and the therapeutic work: my memories are shaped by the feeling of the counselling room, the plants, and the softness of the chair.

We need to talk about shame.

When we work hard to hide our shame it gets worse.

Shame can make us feel distressed and embarrassed, it isn’t always easy to identify, often we feel the effects of shame rather than the cause of it. As a result we develop destructive coping tools which over time add to our shame.
