Last Tuesday, we hosted our cross-cultural fostering training via Teams for those currently in assessment to become foster carers with our five local councils.

It was a really engaging session, giving applicants the chance to explore how to support children from a range of cultural backgrounds and feel more confident as they continue their fostering journey.

We offer a variety of training sessions designed to equip and support you every step of the way.

🎉 We’re proud to share that Blackpool Council is now a fostering friendly employer!

Awarded by The Fostering Network, the policy will help our staff balance foster caring and work responsibilities.

It means that we can offer a flexible working pattern for foster carers and kinship carers as well as those going through the application process with up to 10 days of additional paid leave days each year.

With nearly 40% of foster carers across England combining fostering with other work, we recognise the importance of supporting and promoting the needs of our staff who are also foster carers and kinship carers.

Last week Kirsty and Christine ran our Prepare to Foster training!

The session is designed to build confidence and give you the knowledge you need to welcome a child into your home. We cover everything from PACE and therapeutic parenting to how to create a safe, stable and supportive environment where children can truly thrive.

We’ve had some fantastic feedback from those who attended and it’s been brilliant to see people leave feeling more prepared and reassured ✨
