This week, Diabetes UK is reminding everyone that diabetes health checks matter.

Your review gives you data.
What you do between appointments determines direction.

Food patterns.
Stress.
Sleep.
Movement.
Consistency.
A review identifies risk.
Daily habits reduce it.

If your health check has highlighted areas to improve, let’s use that as a starting point for change, not a source of worry.

Have you had your health check this year?

As it's Diabetes UK Health Checks campaign week, it’s a good time to talk about what your annual review actually means.

Attending is important, and understanding your results is powerful.

Your review typically checks:
• HbA1c (your 3-month glucose average)
• Blood pressure
• Cholesterol
• Kidney function
• Eye and foot health

These aren’t numbers.
They’re information.

If you’ve had your review recently and would like help understanding your numbers, comment below or message me for support. 😊

HbA1c isn’t about judgement — it’s about information 💙

It helps you see whether your daily habits are supporting steadier blood sugars over time.

The good news is that even small changes can move that number in the right direction.

This is about progress, not pressure.
The group will be held at Blaydon Youth and Community Centre CIO

Small steps → big changes ✨

This week is Diabetes UK Health Checks campaign week.

If you’re living with Type 2 diabetes, your annual review isn’t just routine — it’s protective.

It checks:
• HbA1c
• Blood pressure
• Cholesterol
• Kidney function
• Eye and foot health

If you’ve recently had your review, how did you feel about it?
Did you understand your numbers?
Did you feel clear on next steps?

If not — this group exists for that exact reason.

This week at Type 2 Together, Blaydon Youth and Community Centre CIO we’re talking about HbA1c 💙

HbA1c is a blood test that shows your average blood sugar levels over the past 2–3 months.

It’s not about one meal.
It’s not about a one off-day.
It reflects patterns over time.

And that’s why small steady habits matter ✨

Small steps → big changes ✨

I’m really pleased to share that I’ll be speaking at the Gateshead Diabetes UK Support Group this May

It’s a monthly support group bringing together people living with diabetes across the North East, offering education, support and a chance to connect with others.

More details to follow nearer the time, but I’m looking forward to being part of it.

🍽️ No restriction — just strategy 💙

Following food order isn’t about cutting foods out 🚫
It’s about how you eat them.

Small changes in how you eat your meals can support steadier blood sugars, without feeling restrictive 💙
