This winter, let’s help keep our older loved ones safe from falls. ❄️
The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE) in collaboration with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) and the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) recently shared important advice on preventing falls and what to do if one happens.
Key tips to remember:
• If you fall, stay calm and take a moment to check for injuries before moving.
• If you can get up safely: roll onto your side → push to hands and knees → use sturdy furniture to bring one foot flat → stand slowly.
• If you can’t get up: use your phone or pendant alarm, call for help, try to attract attention, keep warm, and move gently to support circulation.

🚨 Remember: Call 999 immediately if you or someone who has fallen can’t get up, is confused, drowsy, vomiting, or has a suspected head, neck, back or hip injury, or severe bleeding.
