TODAY: Improv with Local Legend Alan Jennings. 1-3pm.

Yes. Improvisation.
No, you don’t have to be funny.

Why improv helps recovery:
Because addiction taught us to freeze, mask and overthink.

Improv teaches:
• Yes, and…
• Stay present
• It’s safe to mess up
• Laughter doesn’t mean danger

It’s nervous system rewiring disguised as silliness.

FYI: Adults only, low pressure and giggles.

The Recovery Space will also open 12–4 for usual chaos + tea.

FREE.
📍Improv will be located at Langwith Community Centre Hall, and The Recovery Space will be in its usual spot.

☔ Walking in the rain is good for you! ☔

I’ve been out and about in the surrounding countryside for my mental health a few times over the weekend, and as you can see from the pictures, the experience has been a mixed bag! From muddy fields, to abandoned homes and back lanes, to a flat tyre (pot hole!) and sideways rain, I can’t say I loved every minute, but I can says it’s done me good.

When I’m walking in the mud and the ground literally slips underneath my feet with every step, I’m focusing on engaging my core abdominal and pelvic musculature, which in turn supports my lower back. I’m thinking about my posture and stability, and I’m keeping myself amused as I notice how I’m getting wetter and colder!

It’s important to take time to reset, to give yourself time to process and experience whatever is happening for you - and getting outside is a great way to improve connection and integration between the physical body (anamayakosha in yogic philosophy), and the mental / emotional body (manomayakosha).

As a holistic practitioner and if it’s helpful, we can include lifestyle advice to improve your movement and thinking patterns as part of your next treatment. I’m glad to be back in my warm garden studio this half term week and next! Give me a call 07977063711 or book in here:

This is a great project, should be fun to support it 😬

Fancy a new adventure? 🏰

Bolsover Castle is on a quest to find new Community Engagement and Outreach volunteers to help deliver our exciting new Margaret Cavendish's Mind Lab project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Cavendish was a scientist, thinker and writer who penned one of the earliest science fiction novels and was the first woman to attend the Royal Society in London! Can you help us bring her extraordinary story to life? 👉

🏝️ No one is an island 🏝️

Nothing helps everybody…
But sometimes, despite our best efforts to help ourselves, we all need support with different aspects of life…

The phrase “No man is an island” was written in the 17th century by John Donne, and is often used to illustrate the interconnectivity of humanity, the importance of community, that we are all part of a larger truth, a unified whole. This has been forgotten by some in the modern world, but it still resonates and is as true today as it was in times gone by.

In traditional medicine, the idea of connectivity is central to understanding how the body and mind work, and it is when we become unbalanced or disconnected that problems arise. Acupuncture is a traditional medicine that can help support you and your health, so if you’re out of balance or feel a little disjointed or out of whack, then come to see how it might help get you back on track. ☔ Rain and wind abound! ☔

Wind in Traditional Chinese medicine is an indicator of pain or symptoms that move around!
For example in fibromyalgia or other chronic conditions, people often experience pain in one area or joint one day, then another area another day, and often without aggravating or irritating factors. In TCM, Wind symbolises this moving pain condition, and there are several acupoints that are said to be especially effective at modifying how this is experienced in the body and mind.

Likewise in TCM, Damp symbolises heavy, dragging pain, sometimes associated with swelling or inflammation such a s in arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions that people often feel get worse with wet weather!

If you’d like to know more, or if you feel that windy and wet weather impact your health, why not get in touch or book an appointment in Feb:
