☔ Walking in the rain is good for you! ☔
I’ve been out and about in the surrounding countryside for my mental health a few times over the weekend, and as you can see from the pictures, the experience has been a mixed bag! From muddy fields, to abandoned homes and back lanes, to a flat tyre (pot hole!) and sideways rain, I can’t say I loved every minute, but I can says it’s done me good.
When I’m walking in the mud and the ground literally slips underneath my feet with every step, I’m focusing on engaging my core abdominal and pelvic musculature, which in turn supports my lower back. I’m thinking about my posture and stability, and I’m keeping myself amused as I notice how I’m getting wetter and colder!
It’s important to take time to reset, to give yourself time to process and experience whatever is happening for you - and getting outside is a great way to improve connection and integration between the physical body (anamayakosha in yogic philosophy), and the mental / emotional body (manomayakosha).
As a holistic practitioner and if it’s helpful, we can include lifestyle advice to improve your movement and thinking patterns as part of your next treatment. I’m glad to be back in my warm garden studio this half term week and next! Give me a call 07977063711 or book in here:
