I finally got around to doing something that was solely for me.

Tattoos aren't for everyone, but for me they are therapeutic, from the buzz of the machine to the appearance of the design forever on your skin.

I've posted my latest one in the comments.

It features a bear and snakes so just to warn those with phobias of either or

Sometimes, we do not need advice or well meaning words, we just need someone to listen. Someone who will sit quietly beside us, not to fix what can not be fixed, but to hold space for what we feel.
When we lose a beloved pet, we lose more than an animal, we lose a companion, a source of comfort, and an unspoken understanding that can not easily be replaced.
The world can feel a little emptier, and often, some people don’t quite understand the depth of that pain.

Grief for a pet is real and so raw, it lingers in the quiet corners of our homes, in the familiar routines, and in the moments where their presence once brought warmth and comfort. Sometimes, it is not about moving on, but about finding a way to move forward while still carrying their love with us. You deserve to be heard, to speak their name, to share their story, and to have someone truly listen without judgment or expectation.

Because sometimes, the most healing thing is not advice or answers, it is simply being seen, being heard, and knowing that your grief matters.

🌙 As the Days Grow Shorter — A Time for Reflection

As autumn deepens and we move into the darker months of the year, many of us find ourselves reflecting more deeply on life, love, and the companions who’ve walked beside us.

Among the most difficult and emotional questions we face as pet owners is this one:
“Should I stay with my pet during euthanasia?”

A recent article written by Dawn Murray BCAh, Founder of the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors, revisits this very topic with clarity and compassion.

Viral posts have circulated for years claiming that pets “search for their owners” in their final moments, implying that anyone who couldn’t stay was a coward or unloving.
Dawn reminds us that this is not only untrue; it is deeply harmful.

💬 “No one should ever be made to feel guilt or shame for the choices made in moments of heartbreak.”

As pet bereavement counsellors, we understand there are many reasons why someone might not be present at the end: illness, distance, trauma, or circumstances beyond their control.

Love is not measured by presence in one moment, but by a lifetime of care, companionship, and devotion.

💜 Truths to Remember:

🟣Your pet did not die “looking” for you.
🟣Your pet knew they were loved.
🟣Veterinary teams provide comfort, safety, and compassion in those final moments.
🟣You are not a coward for finding it too painful — you are human.

This reflection is a gentle reminder to treat ourselves and others with kindness.
If you’ve ever faced this decision, please know, you did what you could, with love in your heart.

💜 If you’re struggling with these thoughts or feelings, you don’t have to face them alone.

Our Registered and Accredited Pet Bereavement Counsellors are here to offer understanding, comfort, and guidance.
We know what it means to love deeply, to lose, and to heal.

👉 Visit our page to connect with a counsellor near you, or reach out for confidential support and reassurance.
You deserve to be heard and supported, with compassion.
