We’re thinking of adding a "Quiet Carriage" to our Lancashire events... what do you think? 📖🚂

At Fun with Trains, we’re always looking for ways to make our sessions more inclusive for every kind of little engineer. While most of the hall is a hive of whirring Tomy Plarail engines and track-building, we know some children (and parents!) occasionally fancy a bit of a breather.

We’re considering putting together a little "Reading Corner" featuring a collection of classic Railway Series and Thomas books. It would be a cozy spot to sit with a brew from Willow and Whistle, turn some pages, and perhaps spot the real-life versions of the engines puffing away on the tracks nearby. It’s about more than just play; it’s about nurturing that love for stories and giving kids a space to regulate if the excitement gets a bit much.

At Fun with Trains, we believe every loco deserves a second chance at the track! 🛠️🚂

Have you ever noticed our team tinkering away in the corner? We’re passionate about keeping our Tomy Plarail fleet in tip-top condition, which is why we choose to repair our broken trains rather than letting them end up in a landfill. From replacing worn-out gears to cleaning battery terminals, we do our bit to stay "green" and keep the Lancashire tracks humming.

But we don’t just stop at our own fleet! We know how heartbreaking it is when a little one's favourite engine stops whirring at home. If you have a broken loco gathering dust, bring it along to one of our sessions. If you ask nicely, our team of "Master Engineers" will be more than happy to take a look and see if we can get it back on the rails for you. It’s all part of being a community that looks out for one another—and our planet!

We know that every great railway engineer needs a well-fuelled support team! ☕🚂

While the little ones are busy navigating the Tomy Plarail junctions and building their Lancashire masterpieces, we haven’t forgotten about the grown-ups. We are delighted to have Willow and Whistle’s Tuck Shop stationed at all our events!

Whether you’re after a proper British brew to kickstart your morning, a refreshing drink, or a few sweet treats to reward a particularly impressive bit of track-laying, the Willow and Whistle team are there to keep everyone chugging along. It’s all part of making our sessions a place where the whole community can relax—where parents can have a sit-down and a chat while the kids enjoy some "unplugged" play. No need to worry about packing a massive picnic; we’ve got the refreshments covered right here in the hall.

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to get those weekend plans on track! We are heading to Chowbent Unitarian Chapel in Atherton on Saturday, 14th March, and we still have plenty of room for more mini-engineers to join the crew.

If you’re looking for a way to guarantee a stress-free Saturday morning, this is it. We bring over 500 feet of track and more than 100 trains—meaning no fighting over toys and zero cleanup for you at the end!

Planning your first visit to a Fun with Trains event in Lancashire? We’ve got the inside track to make your morning a breeze! 🚂

We know that a big morning out with the little ones can sometimes feel like a bit of a military operation, so we’ve put together a few "pro-tips" to make your session as smooth as a Tomy Plarail engine on a fresh battery:

1. Listen for the Music: We know it’s hard to leave when you’re mid-build! To help the mini-conductors transition, we play our special "Tidy Up" song at the end. It’s a friendly signal that the station is closing, and it usually gets everyone involved in a bit of teamwork!

2. Dress for Action: Our young engineers do a lot of reaching, stretching, and sitting on the floor to get those tracks just right. Comfy clothes (and maybe some thick socks) are definitely the way to go.

3. Visit the Willow and Whistles Tuck Shop: No need to lug a heavy cool-box around! We have a lovely little tuck shop on-site. Whether you need a proper brew to keep your own "engine" running or the kids fancy some sweets to celebrate a successful railway build, we’ve got you covered.

It’s all about creating that relaxed, Lancashire community atmosphere where the whole family can unwind. We can't wait to see you at the trackside!

There is something truly nostalgic about the gentle whir of a Tomy Plarail engine finding its way along the track, isn't there? 🚂

In a world that feels increasingly dominated by tablets and touchscreens, we take immense pride in providing a tactile space where Lancashire’s little engineers can truly engage their senses. There is nothing quite like watching our young visitors swap the glow of a screen for the hands-on joy of clicking together those iconic blue tracks and flicking the switch on a little electric loco.

From our sessions in Bolton to events right across the county, we’ve had the privilege of seeing so many children grow up with us. We are officially less than two weeks away from our visit to Chowbent Unitarian Chapel on Saturday, 14th March! If you’re looking to get your Saturday morning sorted with some high-energy, screen-free fun, now is the time to book.

We’re bringing our massive 500ft track layout, over 100 trains, and all the favorite characters from the Thomas TV show. It’s a railway paradise where the children can be the chief engineers while you take a well-deserved break!

Calling all Middleton, Heywood, Bury, Oldham and Rochdale train fans!

We are thrilled to announce that our giant railway world is pulling into Alkrington Community Centre on Sunday, 26th April.

If you missed our half-term tour, this is your chance to see what a "Train Takeover" is all about!

We’re bringing our massive setup to Middleton, featuring over 500 feet of track, winding tunnels, busy stations, and over 100 trains; including all your favorite characters from the Thomas TV show.

What to expect at the station:
🎢 The Train Rollercoaster & Ride-on Train: Both are ready for action (strictly for our mini-engineers aged 6 and under).
🚂 Hands-on Creative Play: Miles of track for children to build, explore, and imagine.
☕ Fuel for the Station Masters: We’ll have tea, coffee, and light refreshments available for purchase throughout the day from Willow & Whistle's Tuck Shop.
🧹 Parent Win: You get to enjoy the play, and we handle every single piece of track at the end!
