“Sometimes,” said Pooh softly, “it rains a little longer than we’d like.”
The puddles had grown deep, and the clouds didn’t seem in any hurry to leave. Pooh sat quietly, watching the raindrops slide down his nose, feeling rather soggy in spirit and in fur.
Christopher Robin stood nearby, his boots splashing in the mud. He didn’t try to tell Pooh to cheer up or look on the bright side. Instead, he simply opened his umbrella and held it over them both.
“Even rainy days,” he said gently, “are easier when someone shares the umbrella.”
Pooh looked up, eyes warm but heavy. “Do you think the sun ever forgets us, Christopher Robin?”
Christopher Robin smiled. “No, Pooh. It’s just resting. Sometimes the sun hides for a while so we can learn how kind the rain can be.”
The words soaked into Pooh’s heart like honey on warm bread. Maybe it was true — maybe kindness is just a little bit of sunshine that people keep for rainy days.
So they stayed there together — one small bear and one faithful friend — not rushing, not wishing the storm away. Just waiting, side by side, until the world decided to shine again.
Because sometimes love doesn’t mean stopping the rain.
It simply means standing beside you — and holding the umbrella.
