🗣️ Freedom to Speak Up Week at Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital

Meet Our Guardians
This week we’re celebrating Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Week with daily posts highlighting how we’re building a culture of openness and safety at Nuffield Bournemouth.

To kick things off, meet our Freedom to Speak Up Guardians:
💚 Geoff Read – Hospital Support Administrator
💚 Laura Versfeld – Senior Theatre Practitioner, SFA & Surgical Safety Champion

Geoff shares:
“One of the main reasons I became a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian is to ensure that every new colleague knows from day one that their voice matters. We’re working hard to make Speaking Up ‘Business as Usual’ here. Every suggestion is heard, discussed at our monthly FTSU meeting, and responded to in a summary shared with all staff. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made with regular SMT listening afternoons, informal breakfast sessions, and suggestion boxes across the site.”

Laura adds:
“I truly believe that everyone needs to be able to have their say if we’re to provide the best possible care. Geoff and I have worked to make ourselves visible and accessible—through listening events, training sessions for HODs and SMT, and keeping our FTSU board in the canteen up to date.”

Together, Geoff and Laura are helping to foster a workplace where every voice is valued, and no concern is too big or small to raise.
