This patient presented with a stiff painful knee 12 years after a PCL reconstruction. The PCL runs from the back of the knee at the top of the tibia through the femoral notch and attached to the medial femoral condyle.
This patient has had a reconstruction operation using quite invasive hardware! See pics. There is a large screw and spiked washer combination. The patient now has osteoarthritis and will need a total knee replacement. Stage 1 is to remove the hardware and prepare for the next surgery. These can be tricky to remove and leave significant defects. Done successfully and images shared with consent.
