Hi everyone, it’s been a while since my last post as I’ve been busy studying facial aesthetic treatments (more of that to come very soon!). Thought I would give an update on how I’m getting on with the obagi nu-derm system. I think the pics speak for themselves! I’m loving the change in my skin. I’ve been using it for about four months now and have seen a huge reduction in my hyperpigmentation and my skin looks so much more fresh and radiant with less fine lines and wrinkles. Let’s talk about some products which could really make a difference if you’re an acne sufferer.

The Obagi Clenziderm complete system quickly reduces acne in as little as 1 to 3 weeks. It is uniquely formulated to target acne at the source.

The system consists of -

✨Foaming Cleanser - which contains 2% salicylic acid. This removes dirt and excess oil and starts the exfoliating process.

✨Pore Therapy - contains 2% salicylic acid. It unclogs pores and clears away dead skin cells. It also helps minimise swelling and redness.

✨Therapeutic Lotion - contains 5% benzoyl peroxide which pe*****tes deep into the dermis, combating and destroying p.acne bacteria.

Many people think that age spots are a natural part of ageing and something you have to live with as you get older, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Though dark spots appear on the outer surface of the skin, they are actually formed deep in the skin before rising to the outer layer. Obagi clear contains prescription strength hydroquinone which is absorbed into the layers of the skin suppressing the production of melanin which is what causes the brown spots that you see . It helps to correct the look of age/sun spots and melasma.

Obagi clear is one of the products used in the Obagi Nuderm system which helps to give you a more radiant, even skin tone, whilst also correcting sun/age spots and malasma.

So let’s talk about the difference between medical skincare and the stuff you can buy from the high street.

You may think that the more you spend on a product or the more famous the brand name, the better it will work but unfortunately that’s not always true!

There are really only three types of skincare product.
Medical grade Cosmeceutical Cosmetic

Medical Grade
These are products which can only be prescribed by a trained healthcare professional. They are prescribed after a full consultation and are recommended for your specific skincare needs. They can help with acne, pigmentation, melasma, dullness and aging. They are products that can actually change how your skin is formed. They are proven to work in clinical trials and have high strength active ingredients that work together and which are formulated to pe*****te deep into your skin.

They do the following -
✨work throughout ALL layers of your skin
✨improve cellular turnover
✨reduce or eradicate melanin
production
✨increase collagen production which gives skin a more youthful appearance
✨increase blood flow
Cosmeceutical
Cosmeceuticals are products which are used by a skincare professional and purchased from them. They have a lower concentration of active ingredients in than medical grade products do. This means they can pe*****te through the top layer of skin but not deep down like medical products. The use of active ingredients mean that you will see a change in your skin but because the ingredients are a lower concentration this limits the effects that they can have. They can work well in combination with medical grade products.
Cosmetic
These are the skincare products that you can buy on the high street. They will not work in the same way as medical grade products or cosmeceutical products. They cannot pe*****te the outer layers of the skin therefore can only achieve a temporary difference in appearance.
They can exfoliate and temporarily plump the skin on the surface but cannot change how the skin cells work and so cannot cause lasting change and improvement in skin health.

If you have dull skin, hyperpigmentation (age spots), fine lines and wrinkles, malasma or rough uneven skin then this is the system for you!

The obagi Nu-derm system is amazing at correcting hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is often caused by sun damage or inflammation, which then leads to an excess production of melanin - meaning more sun spots. Nu-derm contains hydroquinone which suppresses melanin production therefore correcting sun spots.

I’m so excited this has arrived! I’m going to start using it as this is definitely what my skin needs!
