Dawn Dines, CEO and founder of Stamp Out Spiking, delivered an excellent high-impact, in-person training session in Builth Wells today.
Some of our SJAC Powys volunteers alongside people involved in youth work, street pastors, pubs & clubs, security & taxis were invited to attend.
The session included building foundational knowledge about drink spiking, including how it happens, warning signs, and appropriate responses . The aim was to equip frontline staff with practical tools to help prevent spiking and respond supportively when it occurs. It definitely strengthened our local commitment and confidence around safeguarding event attendees, especially in nightlife or large-scale settings.
Thank you to Dr Greg Langridge-Thomas from Powys County Council for organising this event.

It has been a busy few months as our Brecon division gets back up and running! With summer season well under way we look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you!

So what's been happening recently?

👬 We've welcomed in 4 new members to the team

🎪 So far we have provided support to 7 local events this year (including VE day and Gurkha Parade)

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Our team has continued to support to other County and National Events (Eisteddfod yr Urdd, Six Nations Rugby and Lana Del Rey)

🌟A special highlight to our members for their recent achievements🌟

A member admitted into The Order of St. John for their long and conspicuous service in St. John Ambulance

Two members awarded Certificates of Commendation for their contributions and excpetional service

It was great to have a joint training session with St John Ambulance Cymru Rhayader earlier in the week and see those skills put to use during the VE Day Celebration at Brecon Prom.

The sun certainly came out to shine on our volunteers and the runners taking part in the Brecon leg of the Gwent Cross Country! ☀️
Always enjoyable to utilise some of our specialist resources for 4x4 access (pictured: Defender). Thank you to the volunteers from St John Ambulance Cymru Llandrindod Wells who came down to assist.
