Rachel Philbrick - Therapeutic Counsellor

Rachel Philbrick - Therapeutic Counsellor Therapeutic Counselling in Brecon. A safe and private place to talk A warm, safe space where we can work things out and make changes for the better if you wish.

Whether you're going through a difficult patch, or want to understand yourself better, therapy gives you the chance to talk about how you're feeling. Whether it's relationship problems, depression, anxiety or simply that life has become difficult, I can offer you a safe, confidential space where you can talk about whatever problems or difficulties have brought you to counselling. I will place your hopes and needs at the centre of our session, working with whatever you wish to talk about. I can also practise mindfulness with you if you wish, relaxation and meditation techniques which help to lessen some of the distressing symptoms of anxiety that can make coping so much harder. The first thing we will do when you contact me is arrange a time for our first session. I normally see clients once a week, for 50 minutes. Our first session is an opportunity for you to start telling me what has brought you to counselling. I will provide you with the space to begin to untangle your thoughts and feelings. Together we can look at what is going on for you. I place no restrictions on the amount of sessions a client has, as I believe you will know when your work in the counselling space is done. I will check in with you regularly to see how you think the sessions are progressing. I practise from rooms in Brecon and Hay on Wye, and will also counsel over Skype, if a client has difficulty with meeting up

Take some time over the next few days to sit down with your child and talk about mental health. You can start the conversation by asking these questions.

Yesterday I went to the funeral of an old friend who died with motor neurone disease. He was a warm, generous and charismatic man, and the church was packed to the gills with people, young and old, from all walks of life. The grief around me took many forms; there was silence, tears, laughter, despair, reaching out for comfort, withdrawing into self, looking to others for their reaction, thinking, sharing., supporting.
Grief comes in many shapes and sizes - all of them normal, natural and necessary. Let your grief pass through you, engulf you at times, and give it time and space. It reflects and expresses the way you felt for the person who has died, and grieving allows you to find a way through the pain to a place of coping.
Mike Denney, you will be missed.
