❤️🌺Remembrance Day at Wansbeck Care Home🌺❤️

We marked Remembrance Day with a mindful 2-minute silence, followed by a wonderful performance from our fabulous singer John Fletcher, who had us all singing and dancing.🎶✨

Afterwards we enjoyed a tasty buffet lunch and a Remembrance Day quiz. Everyone agreed it had been a truly special day. ❤️

❤️🎖️Remembrance at The Lodge Care Home🎖️❤️

As part of our Remembrance events here at The Lodge, residents enjoyed an interactive puppet show, performing classic songs from World War Two.🎶

The puppets brought smiles, sparked memories, and helped us all reflect on our heroes and the incredible sacrifices they made. Residents even got the chance to hold the puppets themselves, making the experience even more special and personal.❤️

🌿🦒 Our Brand New Sensory Room at Grosvenor Park Care Home🦒🌿

In September, Activities Co-ordinator Jemma, Maintenance Brian, and Marg, who is one of our resident’s daughters, completed a 21.2-mile sponsored walk from Darlington to Durham Cathedral! It took 6 hours and 16 minutes and lots of determination, but they raised an amazing £627 for a brand-new sensory room for our residents! 👏🎉

After chatting with our residents, we decided to create a rainforest-themed sensory room, which will be very calming and colourful. Brian decorated the room and Jemma went shopping to find some lovely lights and sensory equipment to fill the room. 🌴🦜

Family members have commented on how lovely the room looks and how calming it is. Sheila’s husband, Michael, said that we did a very good job and well done for completing the long walk. 🥰

Residents who don’t usually sit in the lounge have come in to enjoy the new room. They really like all the new lights, including our very special giraffe lamp, which the residents love and have nicknamed Gerald the Giraffe. 🦒

Our Manager Angie said she’s incredibly proud of the team for completing the walk and that the new room is a wonderful, relaxing space that truly enriches the senses for our residents. ❤️

🌺Remembrance Day at Botham Hall🌺

We had entertainer Grace Lamont join us, and she had everyone singing along to brilliant 1940s hits. With poppies on their lapels and flags in hand, residents and staff sang along and danced in high spirits. 🇬🇧✨

We took a moment to listen to Winston Churchill’s speech, and enjoyed some delicious buns decorated with poppy designs, lovingly baked by our Wellbeing Lead’s 14-year-old daughter, who was thrilled to do something special for the residents.🍰🥰

A fun, heartfelt day filled with music, memories, and community spirit — high spirits all around! 🎵💖

🌺Remembrance at Heywood Court Care Home🌺

Singer Gina Kay joined us for some sing-alongs, bringing smiles, dancing, and plenty of toe-tapping. A huge thank you to Gina for making the day so special!

A big shoutout to our amazing kitchen staff for the delicious buffet and treats. Brenda praised the scones, jam, and fresh cream — “absolutely beautiful!” 🍰❤

We’d also like to thank Martin, Chairman of the Heywood Veteran Association, for arranging for Gina to come and entertain us.

A day full of music, memories, and gratitude. Truly a day to remember. 🌺

🧩Quiet Moments at Botham Hall Care Home🧩

Beryl fancied a little quiet time in her room, so we turned it into a cosy 1-to-1 jigsaw session. She was completely focused and really enjoyed piecing it together!

The puzzle picture was of London, which sparked a lovely chat. Beryl told us she’s been before and enjoyed her visit… but said she wouldn’t rush back because it was far too busy for her liking! 😄🚌

A peaceful afternoon, a good giggle, and a jigsaw well done.❤

🎖Remembrance at Westview Lodge🎖

Residents and staff came together for a very special Remembrance Service this week, joined by our wonderful guests, soldiers and flag bearers from the DLI and talented buglers from the Durham Miners Band.🎺

It was a moving tribute, filled with pride and gratitude. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a lovely party with music, singing, and dancing. A perfect way to celebrate togetherness and remember those who served.❤️🎶

🌺Remembrance at Riverside View Care Home🌺

On Sunday, our residents gathered together to watch the Remembrance Service on TV. It was a touching moment that meant a lot to many, especially our veterans. Terry and Ken looked very smart wearing their uniforms with pride.🎖

Then on Tuesday, everyone came together again to take part in the two-minute silence as a sign of respect for our fallen heroes. Afterwards, spirits were lifted with a lovely afternoon of wartime songs and a proper party tea!🎶🍰

🎵Remembrance at Elm Bank Care Home🎵

Yesterday, we took a moment to reflect and remember with a 2-minute silence, honouring those who fought for our country. 🕊️

The afternoon then turned into a delightful celebration with live music from vintage singer Vicky Sandison, who serenaded us with tunes from the wartime era right up to the swinging 60s! Around 20 residents, along with family and members of the community, joined in the fun.🎤🎶

During the interval, we tucked into cakes, cream scones, cheese scones, and lots of other goodies.🍰😋

Residents loved the music, the food, and the company. Lillah said, “One of the best entertainers we’ve had, it was lovely to see staff and residents dancing together and having a good time!” 💃🕺

Nadiyah, our Wellbeing Lead, summed it up perfectly: “This event was a wonderful way to bring the community, residents, and staff together to remember, reflect, and spend time with each other. The entertainment was fantastic and everyone had a wonderful afternoon.” ❤️

🏅Honouring Our Veterans at The Lodge Care Home🏅

Yesterday, The Lodge Care Home held their ‘Together We Remember’ event, celebrating the courage, service, and sacrifice of veterans past and present.❤️

As part of the day, a special Veterans’ Award Ceremony recognised the incredible contributions of residents and local community members who have served in the Armed Forces.
