What is Play Therapy...
In my experience, the word play can devalue the quality of therapy because it is perceived to be 'fun and games', Yes, play can be.
But, it is also an opportunity to learn, challenge ourselves and others, develop or practice skills, and communicate in multiple ways...
Children and adults use play in their day to day. Whether it's a joke with a colleague, a harmless prank/joke, or a competitive game. .
These are the ways we connect with others. In the moments if we reflect, we may be able to notice triggers that cause certain reactions, which impact how we engage or our emotional wellbeing.
Play is built in all of us. It depends on whether we feel safe and accepted, and our environment allows us to be explorative and messy. Play facilities unconscious processing and the opportunity to recreate difficult experience.
Play welcomes imperfections.
