I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor currently available for online and face to face sessions in Washington, Sunderland and Heaton, Newcastle. I am an Integrative Counsellor (FdA) who works mainly in the person-centered approach which means that at the heart of my work lie empathy, unconditional positive regard and a non-judgemental attitude. And a moral panic close to my heart. Education has often been a target for moral panic, attracting as it does lefty extremists (tongue firmly in cheek here). This speech from Margaret Thatcher in 1987, describes the moral decline of education. A good example of how the moral panic argument can be changed from 'the problem is the youth' to 'protect the kids'.

This quote from the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury's Speech in 1843 to the House of Commons bemoans the morals of the next generation. Often, the rebellion of the next generation, changing attitudes to what is and is not socially acceptable and the threat that unruly youth present make great moral panic targets.

If you hadn't sussed the language use, you might have thought this could be an opinion piece in a particularly modern morally panicky newspaper. However, this is a quote from 1695.
