The gentle rhythm of autumn lingers in the New Forest. 🍂

Each year, as acorns scatter across the forest floor, pigs are released to forage — a centuries-old tradition known as pannage. This simple yet vital custom protects the ponies and cattle that roam freely beneath the trees, helping to keep the balance of nature in harmony. 🐷

This year, thanks to an exceptional acorn harvest, the pannage season has been extended until January, offering more time to witness one of the New Forest’s most endearing sights.
