Some of the common conditions that you won't need to go to the emergency department for are the common cold - where you can see your Pharmacy or NHS 111, or routine things like ordering prescriptions - you should be able to access your GP or Pharmacy. Emergency departments are there is you have a life threatening injury or illness, you are in severe pain or symptoms of severe conditions.
