I'm so happy to share this lovely testimonial from a long term client!

It is such a privilege to see my clients get through some really tough situations as they develop new perspectives and coping mechanisms.

My TBR ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“–

This isn't necessarily for 2025, I know I won't get through this many books in a year but I thought it would be good to have a list of what I'd like to read, and what better time to do it than the new year. I separate my list into fiction and non-fiction because they are totally different moods for me!

What's on your TBR?

Towards the end of 2024 I started to feel burnt out, here's what I did:

I recognised it and listened to my mind and body. I've learnt my 'tells', which are mostly feeling irritable and wanting to shut myself away, and stay home more than usual.

I took a break. Luckily the festive season was approaching so I had some time off in the diary anyway, but it was definitely needed! I ended up having a full 2 weeks away from work, which I've never done but I'm feeling refreshed now!

I spent time outside and went for walks.

I watched TV and films and listened to a lot of comedy podcasts.

I spent time with friends and family.

I didn't open my laptop everyday.

In the long term, I'm adding longer breaks between clients and aiming for a stricter working routine (hard to do when you're self employed).

These are a few of the ways I deal with feeling burnout, and I'd say the first step in recognising it is the most important. Its taken me years to recognise this feeling and to develop ways to deal with it. Everyone is different and my answers might not work for you, when dealing with something like burnout its more about finding the coping mechanisms that work for you. This is what self care is really about (not just having a bath or a cup of tea).

As decided by the subscribers to Therapy Book Club, in January we will be reading

Open Up by Thomas Morris!

This book sounds like it will be an interesting read! Made up of five short stories, the book is described as a "churning tumult of self-discovery" so I'm sure there will be lots to talk about at our January meeting!

On Saturday I'll be at Ixworth Wellness and Craft Fair Ixworth Wellness & Crafts Events ! At the event you'll find therapists that you can speak to about the therapy they provide and some even doing taster treatments. There will be craft stalls to pick up any Christmas presents or something for yourself!

Come along and have a chat about all things Therapy Book Club and counselling. It's a good chance to ask any questions you have about going to therapy or attending my book club, or even if you just want to chat about a book you've recently read.

I'll be doing a message board so you can leave an anonymous message of hope to others and have a read through of them yourself.

Can't wait to meet you!

You give your time to your job, your family, your friends, your pets, but how much time do you give to yourself?

Itโ€™s easy to get caught up in the daily demands, always putting others' needs ahead of your own. Some might tell you about how important it is to take care of yourself in order to take care of others and whilst this is true, what if you simply took care of yourself because you care about yourself? Whether itโ€™s taking a moment to switch off, engaging in a hobby you love, or simply resting, dedicating time to yourself is not just a luxury - it's necessary for your mental wellness.

So, how will you give yourself time this week? Tell me in the comments ๐Ÿ‘€ At the moment I give myself an hour every morning to drink a coffee and listen to a podcast.

I've been doing a few more online sessions than usual recently. Clients seem to enjoy them because...

๐Ÿกit's more comfortable to talk through difficult things in a space you're familiar with
๐Ÿš—with no need to travel to your appointment it's easier to fit in time for therapy
๐ŸŽฎyou might feel more in control

Even though life can be busy and feel overwhelming at times. Allowing yourself 1 hour per week, or fortnight, to fit in a therapy session is a great way to prioritise your mental health, and that's even easier when you can do this from the comfort of your own home.

If online therapy sessions sound like something you're interested in , let's talk!

Such a lovely review from a client recently.

I love seeing my clients feeling more empowered as they process what they're going through and it's great to hear a client say they're in a better place!
