I don’t often share things on here, but I’ve been meaning to post something very special.
A while ago, I had the honour of working with a truly wonderful lady and her family as we celebrated her mum’s life.
Afterward, she wrote me this beautiful poem — something that touched me deeply (as had the one’s she wrote for her mum). I’m so grateful for her kindness and talent.
I am so very honoured to be able to do the job that I do. 💜
“The Celebrant”
What even is a celebrant?
Harry said that she would ring,
All these words are new to me,
Another stress that grief would bring!
He said her name was Anna,
As I scribbled down her number
I thought , what do I even say?
To a stranger, about my mother!
I typed the number in my phone
And my heart it raced away,
You answered very quickly,
I didn’t know what to say!
Your tone was kind and gentle,
But had a strength that held a force,
I knew right then you’d do me proud,
And that you’d be my voice
You guided us so carefully
Helped my decisions along their way,
Always there to help me
Anytime of day!
My mum would of loved you,
Your style, your grace, your flare,
The bright blue dress and killer heels,
I wish that she’d been there
You captured her so perfectly
Read my poems as they were meant,
So I wrote this one, just for you
So I could make You cry again ❤️
