Did you know that Parc Taf Bargoed used to be home to three busy collieries? ⚒️🌳

We had a fantastic Ein Llais walk there this morning! We spent the trek laughing, chatting, and learning some "wild" new skills from Paul, who showed us what can be made from the plants along the trail.

It’s crazy to think that this Good Friday marks 35 years since Deep Navigation Colliery closed for good. Seeing the lush greenery today, it’s a powerful reminder of how nature can reclaim and transform the world around us. 🌍🌳🌱🌿🪻

First time heading over to Barry Sidings Country Park and Rhondda Heritage Park for the group — and on what’s meant to be the first day of summer too! ☀️🌧🌧🌧

Great walk, great conversations, and finished off with a lovely coffee 👌

Just a reminder, we’re out every Sunday and Wednesday, so if you’ve been thinking about coming along… this is your sign ❤️

🌳 Tree Planting Day Success! 🌳

A huge shout‑out to our two Ein Llais walkers, Melanie and Simon, who took part in today’s Tree Planting Day up at Rhymney War Memorial Park. The weather was kind, but the terrain certainly wasn’t — tough going all the way, and you both tackled it with real grit and good humour.

A well‑earned rest is definitely on the cards after that effort. Massive congratulations on a job brilliantly done.

See you next week for the walk.

Diolch o galon for representing the group with such energy and enthusiasm. 👏💚

Today we’re celebrating powerful stories like Simon’s that show how nature can inspire hope, wellbeing, and new beginnings. 🌱

“Nature has given me a sense of calm I didn’t think I’d feel again.”

“I was introduced to the Caerphilly Nature Wellbeing Programme by a counsellor at Risca Surgery. Living with anxiety and depression can be challenging, and I was referred to help support my mental health - it’s helped me more than I ever expected.

Taking part in the walks every two weeks has made a real difference. I’ve explored beautiful places like the canal, Cyfarthfa Castle, Parc Cwm Darran and Parc Bryn Bach Lake, and I’ve always been made to feel so welcome.

Getting out into nature and walking regularly has had such a positive impact on my wellbeing. I’m now taking part in a tree‑planting day at Rhymney Memorial Park, and while I’m there I’ll be looking into more volunteering opportunities. Being involved in activities like this is something I know will continue to support my mental health as I move forward.”

🏰 Four Seasons, One Castle, and a New Recruit! 🐾
The Dicky Tickers took on Caerphilly Castle this morning, and Mother Nature definitely decided to keep us on our toes!
We ran the full gauntlet today:
☀️ Started with a bit of lovely spring sunshine...
🌨️ Moved swiftly into rain, sleet, and even a burst of hail!
☕ Retreated for a well-earned cuppa and plenty of catch-up chat.
🌤️ Finished with a glorious stroll back in the sun!
🐶 Welcome, Bert!
The highlight of the morning wasn't just the castle views—it was welcoming our newest (and definitely cutest) member, Bert the pup! He handled the hail like a total pro and kept us all smiling.
Well done to the whole crew for braving the elements. There's no such thing as bad weather when you're in good company!
