If you’re a patient at Bankfield Surgery please read

📢 Big news — From Monday 13th April we're changing how you contact the surgery! From that date, we're introducing eConsult — a simple online form that lets you tell us what's going on before we get in touch with you. This means you'll speak to the right person, first time, without spending time on hold.
Here's what's changing:
✅ Submit requests online — Monday to Friday, 7:30am–6:30pm
✅ Access via our website or the NHS App
✅ No more waiting in a phone queue just to get an appointment
✅ We'll review your request and get back to you the same day
✅ Still prefer to call? Our phone lines will remain open.
We know change can feel daunting, but this system is designed to make things quicker, simpler, and fairer for everyone at Bankfield. We've also got support available for patients who need help using it.
👉 From 13th April, visit bankfieldsurgery.org.uk or open the NHS App to submit your request. Got questions before then? Watch out for dates of the support sessions we’ll be holding prior to our go live date and we'll be happy to help. 💙

💜 Miss It for March 💜

This March, our amazing Care Coordinators are taking part in Miss It for March to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

They’ll be giving up some of their favourite treats – from 🍬sugar, to 🍫chocolate and ☕️coffee – to support Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and help shine a light on the signs and symptoms of this disease.

💜Help them along their journey by donating: https://www.justgiving.com/page/calder-and-ryburn-pcn-6?newPage=true

Ovarian cancer symptoms can often be vague, but knowing what to look out for could make all the difference. Symptoms may include:
• Persistent bloating
• Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Needing to wee more urgently or more often
If you experience these symptoms frequently (especially 12 or more times a month), please speak to your GP.

💙Today is Time To Talk Day

You don’t need to have all the answers to be a good listener.
Sometimes a friendly ear and space to share is all someone needs.

Talking about how we’re feeling can be hard, but opening up can be the first step towards feeling less alone. Whether you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, or just having a tough day, your feelings matter.

If you’re not ready to talk, that’s okay too. Go at your own pace. And if you are ready, reach out to someone you trust — a friend, family member, or a healthcare professional.

💬 Let’s keep the conversation going.
💙 It’s okay to talk.
🤍 And it’s okay to ask for support.

💙 A quick note from the Bankfield Surgery team 💙

We know it can be worrying when you’re waiting to hear back from us, and we want to reassure you that your health is always our priority.

At the moment, we’re experiencing a very high number of requests, with many patients contacting us through different channels. If you’ve already been in touch, please don’t worry — we have your request and we will respond as soon as we can.

To help us get back to everyone more promptly, we kindly ask that you avoid contacting us multiple times about the same issue where possible.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support 💙

So pleased to have partnered with Home Instead Calderdale to set up our new carers’ wellbeing group 💬☕

A relaxed space for carers to connect, chat and feel supported — with coffee always included ☕
Our Social Prescribing Team are looking forward to the next one🩵

When you're caring for someone with dementia, the support and companionship of other carers can be a real lifeline. That's why we've launched a new monthly group for carers. "Together for Wellbeing" met yesterday at the Project C**t Cafe in Elland. We were joined by healthcare professionals from our local GP surgeries and adult social care - providing advice and support in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. 💬 Childhood vaccinations can feel like a loaded topic.
And it’s completely normal to have questions.

Dr Sophie Newton has created a short, pressure-free video explaining:
• what childhood vaccines are designed to do
• the real risks and benefits
• how vaccine safety is monitored
• and why she recommends them in clinic

This isn’t about judgement or telling anyone what to think — it’s about clear, honest information to help you make informed choices for your family.
