A chance to get some gentle exercise and meet new people.

We’ll be restarting our gentle walks on Monday 13th April, 11-12 at New Road Primary School 👟

Our walk leader and the social prescriber from Station Road Surgery Sowerby Bridge, have planned our ‘Monday Meander’ to be fully inclusive and accessible to all, whether wheeling or walking👩‍🦽

We won’t be going miles or uphill, just a gentle meander round the hall and grounds at the school - a chance to get some steps in, chat and meet new people with a cuppa afterwards ☕️

We’re hoping some of the children will join us too and encourage us on our way!
All welcome - just turn up ☀️

🌿 Celebrating Social Prescribing Day! 🌿

Yesterday we celebrating Social Prescribing Day — a chance to highlight the support available to help you live well, feel connected, and improve your overall wellbeing.

Not all health problems can be fixed with medicine. Sometimes, what really helps is the right support with everyday challenges.

Our Social Prescribing Link Workers work alongside your GP practice to support you with things that matter to you. They can help connect you to local services, community groups, and practical support tailored to your needs.

💬 You can speak to a Social Prescriber about:
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Loneliness or social isolation
• Financial or housing worries
• Carer support or bereavement
• Training, employment, or building confidence
• Managing everyday challenges affecting your health

✨ Social prescribing is free, confidential, and available to patients of all ages.

If you think this support could help you, contact your GP practice team and ask about Social Prescribing.

How eConsult is going to work at Bankfield Surgery

eConsult — our new online platform, available from the 13th April 2026.
eConsult is the online platform we’re introducing for digital triage. Every online, walk-in, and telephone request will be captured through an eConsult to ensure consistency. No more queuing at 8am - Submit your request online any time, Monday to Friday, 7.30am–6:30pm.
We will contact you the same working day with a plan 🙂

We know that the death of someone you love can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’re launching The Comfort Room — a safe, understanding space where adults experiencing grief can talk, listen, or simply be among others who understand.
