As we welcome the penultimate new moon of the year on 20th, it feels good to take some time to look within and contemplate what intentions you'd like to take forward into 2026. Each new moon is a time of darkness and allows us an opportunity for reverence, but this Cold Moon can help us prepare for the next year ahead. Ideas contemplated now can germinate in these dark months like those physical seeds buried deep underground. This darkness is the signal to begin the process of growth towards the light. What would you like to bring to fruition next year?
Maybe my pose for this new moon can help you find that contemplative state. Check out my blog on Rabbit pose over at essentialyoga.uk/blog

Samhain: Descent, Ancestors & the Feminine Underworld As the final leaves loosen their grip and return to the soil, the festival of Samhain arrives like a whisper from another world to remind me its time to remember and descend. In the Celtic Wheel of the Year, Samhain marks both an ending and a...

Having danced since aged 2, and still dancing today, I moved over time to include more and more yoga in my movement practice; it’s not only great for the body but also brings massive mental and spiritual benefits.
I’ve always been driven to seek new knowledge, and share that understanding with others so it was kind of inevitable I became a fully qualified yoga teacher. So building on that solid basis and decades(!) of experience of different movement forms, I aim to help others find the all-round well-being that yoga can provide; Strength, stamina, the ability to be still, and, yes, in due course, increased flexibility. Yoga bring benefits to everyone, and can be practiced by every body, regardless of size, shape, age, gender or fitness.
With a focus on good alignment, careful transitions, and a linkage to how each person feels at any given time, Essential Yoga classes provide a thoughtful path to physical, mental and spiritual well-being. I particularly follow the natural seasons and rhythms of the wheel of the year, and classes are designed to work with the varying needs and feelings those changing seasons bring.
My classes are friendly and empowering with a welcome for all. I aim to create a relaxed, learning atmosphere, where each person can take their practice to the level they wish, and to provide a mix of energising and relaxing asanas/poses and pranyamas/breathing. I also like to bring some explanation of phrases, terms, physiology, concepts, philosophy etc into the classes to aid understanding of the “why” of yoga.
Classes use gentle music to suit the level and focus of the class. Mats and props are provided at classes taught at Space To Move in Plymouth, but if you wish to bring your own that is great.
Please wear clothes which are comfortable and that you can easily move and stretch in.
I also offer 'One to One' yoga sessions for all levels, either as one-off classes or as a series to help develop your own practice.
I am fully qualified and insured, and a registered teacher with the professional yoga body, Yoga Alliance.
