There’s something truly special about a peaceful morning spent at Kirkstall Abbey. The stunning ruins stand proudly against the spring sky, full of history and quiet beauty.

Walking through the grounds, the fresh spring flowers are beginning to bloom, adding little bursts of colour everywhere you look. It’s the perfect place for a mindful walk — slowing down, breathing in the fresh air, and appreciating the simple beauty of nature and history together.

If you’re looking for somewhere to clear your mind, stretch your legs, and reconnect with the present moment, this really is a wonderful spot to visit.

This beautiful piece of artwork was passed down to me by my grandparents, and it now hangs quietly in my bedroom. Every time I look at it, I feel an immediate sense of calm… almost like the world pauses for a moment.
The soft colours, the still water, the old bridge — it gently reminds me to slow down and breathe. It brings a feeling of inner peace and stillness that is hard to put into words.
Sometimes we think meditation means sitting with our eyes closed in silence. But meditation can also happen with our eyes open. Simply looking at something that brings you calm can create the same sense of awareness and presence.
For me, this painting does exactly that. It’s a small daily reminder that stillness is always available — we just need to pause long enough to notice it.
