A huge thank you to Bro Radio for having us on the station this morning. It was great to be interviewed by Mark and Martyn and to chat all about what we’re doing at CwmpasOT.

We really appreciate the opportunity to share our work, talk about the difference we’re making, and connect with the wider community.

Thanks again for the warm welcome, we loved being part of it!✨

Lovely group yesterday at Youldon House making lanterns!

Creative, open-ended making in a supportive group environment offers powerful therapeutic benefits. In Occupational Therapy, we focus on the process rather than the end product enabling people to engage at their own level, experience success, and rediscover skills and interests. Within a group, this becomes even more meaningful, creating social connection.

Yesterday, we met Margaret.

Margaret doesn’t need “care” in the traditional sense.
She needs someone to sit with her, listen, and remember who she’s always been.

She used to love the sea. So we went for coffee by the water.
She talked about her old job, her favourite music, the walks she used to take without thinking twice.

That’s why we do this.

Our companionship and social calls aren’t about ticking boxes.
They’re about connection, identity, and helping people keep doing what matters to them.

Sometimes it’s a walk.
Sometimes it’s a game of dominoes.
Sometimes it’s just having someone there.

Because no one should feel like life has shrunk to four walls.

If this resonates - for you, a parent, a neighbour, or a friend - we’re here 🤍

Some days you just need a bit of movement, a bit of laughter, and good company 💙

Yesterdays Age Connects session was a lovely mix of boccia, a sports quiz, and seated football. We started gently, built things up as confidence grew, and before we knew it there was friendly competition, plenty of banter, and lots of smiles around the room.

The quiz sparked memories, debates, and a few “I knew that!” moments, and finishing with seated football brought out everyone’s playful side. It didn’t matter about ability - everyone joined in at their own pace, cheering each other on and having a laugh along the way.

If you’re looking for a group where you can move a little, think a little, laugh a lot, and feel genuinely welcome this is what we’re about. Come as you are. You’ll fit right in. 😊

🌧️ Wet, windy, cold… but still worth it 🌬️☕

The weather today was horrible!!! Rain, wind, and that kind of cold that makes you want to stay under a blanket. But despite that, people still came down to Youldon House to spend the afternoon with us making dream catchers 💫

It was one of those sessions that reminds you why getting out really matters. A lovely mix of creativity and mindfulness, keeping our hands busy and our minds gently active. Lots of chatting, laughs, and really good company.

And more importantly on a day like today - plenty of tea and coffee ☕
We even ended up getting up and having a little dance 💃🕺

Even when the weather is bad, going out and having good company can leave you feeling a bit lighter than when you arrived.

If you’ve been thinking “shall I go or shall I stay home?” this is your sign to come along next time ❤️

Exciting News – We’re Now Offering 1:1 Occupational Therapy-Led Support.

We are now offering 1:1 support sessions, designed to be fully person-centred and shaped around what matters most to the individual.

These sessions can include:

• Friendly social calls and companionship
• Support to go out and engage in activities the person enjoys
• Conversation and connection at home
• Support with everyday activities such as cooking, if this is something the person would like to work on
• Or simply sitting together and chatting in the home

There is no pressure to do anything specific, the support is guided by the individual’s wishes, interests, and energy levels. All 1:1 sessions are led by Occupational Therapists and delivered with core OT values at heart, including respect, choice, independence, and meaningful activity. Our specialist skills allow us to adapt support to the person’s abilities and provide the right level of input to help them feel confident, valued, and supported.

This service is ideal for those who may benefit from:
• Extra social connection
• Gentle encouragement to engage in meaningful activities
• Individualised support in a familiar environment

Please contact us for more information, we look forward to hearing from you!

We had a wonderful time delivering a taster arts and crafts session at Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj Community Centre. The group created beautiful deer collages using crepe paper, pens, pencils, gems and twigs for antlers and everyone got involved and participated so well.

We also came together as a team for a 1970s Bollywood quiz, which brought lots of great conversation. It was a truly joyful and welcoming session, and it was lovely to chat about ideas for future groups together.

A huge thank you to Shilla and all the volunteers for being so warm and welcoming and for inviting us into your community.

Thank you also for the delicious refreshments at the end, a perfect way to finish a lovely morning!
