🐰✨ Easter crafts at Youldon House! ✨🐰

This week at our Youldon House group we got creative making Easter cards. Some people followed a design to layer shapes and build a lovely little rabbit, while others let their creativity take over and created their own unique designs 🎨

Activities like this aren’t just about crafts – they also help people practise fine motor skills, coordination, planning, creativity and social connection, all key parts of Occupational Therapy that support people to stay active and engaged in meaningful activities.

It was lovely to see everyone chatting, sharing ideas and encouraging each other along the way.

The group also told us they’d like to try more physical activity sessions in the future, with crafts continuing once a month – which we’re really excited about! 💪

If you would like to join one of our friendly community groups, we’d love to hear from you. Our sessions are welcoming, relaxed and designed to help people stay active, social and doing the things they enjoy.

🎨 Come and say hello to CwmpasOT in Penarth!

We’re excited to be part of a lovely community event hosted by the Vale 50+ Strategy Forum, and we’ll be running a free craft activity for everyone to enjoy. It’s a great chance to get creative, meet new people, and learn about the support, groups and activities available locally to help people stay active, connected and living well.

🗓 Tuesday 31 March
⏰ 11:00am – 1:00pm
📍 Belle Vue Community Centre, Albert Crescent, Penarth

There will also be a short talk from Phil Batchelor (Home Instead) about how staying socially connected can make a big difference to health and wellbeing.

You’ll also be able to chat with a range of local organisations and community groups including Age Connects, Hourglass, Penarth Young at Heart, Value in the Vale, Deafblind UK, Valeways and more.

✨ Free refreshments will be available too — fruit, biscuits and a chance for a good catch-up!

We’d love to see some familiar faces and meet new ones, so please feel free to pop in, get involved with the craft activity and find out a little more about what we do at CwmpasOT.

A lovely morning at Age Connects! 💙

Our session started with a fun introduction to sign language which everyone really enjoyed. Learning something new together is a great way to keep our brains active while building confidence and connection within the group. A BIG thank you to Drew!

We then moved into some boccia games, including a noughts and crosses challenge and a race-style game. These activities are a great way to gently support movement, coordination, teamwork and plenty of laughter along the way.

Our sessions are led by Occupational Therapists and are designed to support wellbeing, social connection and meaningful activity in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

If you or someone you know would enjoy friendly activities, gentle movement and good company, you would be very welcome to join us. 💬

And from the feedback today… it sounds like a quiz session might be coming next week 🧠✨

💃🎶 Rubicon Dance with Sophie today at age connects🎶💃

What a brilliant session this morning – a fantastic turnout and such a lovely atmosphere. Sophie was amazing, accommodating everyone’s song requests so we had plenty of favourites to dance along to. There was lots of movement, laughter and good fun all round – exercise doesn’t feel like exercise when you’re enjoying it this much!

We kicked things off with a fun round of “Guess What’s in the Box?” which definitely got everyone chatting😊

Join us again next Wednesday, 10:30–12:00 at Age Connects Café, Barry.

Next week we’re looking forward to welcoming a very kind gentleman who will be teaching us some sign language before we move into our dance session – something a little different and very exciting!

Everyone welcome 💛

Yesterday at Thomas Court, we spent the afternoon making clay sheep!

Everyone engaged really well and it was lovely to see people so focused and immersed in what they were making, everyone added different details to their sheep, each one completely unique.

A perfect activity for a rainy day!

A huge thank you to Bro Radio for having us on the station this morning. It was great to be interviewed by Mark and Martyn and to chat all about what we’re doing at CwmpasOT.

We really appreciate the opportunity to share our work, talk about the difference we’re making, and connect with the wider community.

Thanks again for the warm welcome, we loved being part of it!✨
