At CwmpasOT, the work isn’t random or “nice ideas that feel helpful”. It’s built on occupational therapy science and real-world evidence. That means we use approaches that have been tested, researched, and shown to improve people’s lives in mental health and community settings. One of the ...

✨ A lovely afternoon at our Youldon House group! ✨

This week we enjoyed a calming start with some relaxation before moving into a gentle Tai Chi session 🧘‍♀️

Everyone joined in at their own pace. Some seated, some standing, and there were plenty of smiles and giggles along the way! It was great to see everyone relaxing into the movements while also having fun together

The group have already said they’d like to do Tai Chi again, so watch this space

💬 Our sessions are open and welcoming to all: whether you want to move, relax, or just enjoy some company.

Yesterday we had a fantastic time attending the 50+ Forum event! 💬

It was great to see such a wide range of organisations coming together to showcase the amazing work happening in the community.

Cwmpas OT hosted a table where people could get creative making dreamcatchers using recycled materials 🌿♻️ We had some lovely conversations, shared lots of information about our groups and companionship calls, and met lovely people along the way.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat or take part, we enjoyed meeting you! 💛

🎉✨ Fun & Movement at Age Connects Today! ✨🎉

We kicked things off with a lively game of “Guess What’s in the Box” lots of great guesses, laughter, and even a few jokes thrown in along the way! 📦😄 Tea and coffee in hand, everyone got involved and the room was full of chatter.

Next up, we got moving with a fantastic seated dance session led by the wonderful Sophie at Rubicon Dance 💃🕺

There was stretching, dancing, and plenty of smiles as participants chose their own music alongside some great tunes from Sophie. Whether joining in with the dancing or enjoying their own activities, everyone found their own way to be part of the session.

The energy, laughter, and sense of community today was just lovely to see 💛

We love sessions like this! fun, active, and full of connection!

🐰✨ Easter crafts at Youldon House! ✨🐰

This week at our Youldon House group we got creative making Easter cards. Some people followed a design to layer shapes and build a lovely little rabbit, while others let their creativity take over and created their own unique designs 🎨

Activities like this aren’t just about crafts – they also help people practise fine motor skills, coordination, planning, creativity and social connection, all key parts of Occupational Therapy that support people to stay active and engaged in meaningful activities.

It was lovely to see everyone chatting, sharing ideas and encouraging each other along the way.

The group also told us they’d like to try more physical activity sessions in the future, with crafts continuing once a month – which we’re really excited about! 💪

If you would like to join one of our friendly community groups, we’d love to hear from you. Our sessions are welcoming, relaxed and designed to help people stay active, social and doing the things they enjoy.

🎨 Come and say hello to CwmpasOT in Penarth!

We’re excited to be part of a lovely community event hosted by the Vale 50+ Strategy Forum, and we’ll be running a free craft activity for everyone to enjoy. It’s a great chance to get creative, meet new people, and learn about the support, groups and activities available locally to help people stay active, connected and living well.

🗓 Tuesday 31 March
⏰ 11:00am – 1:00pm
📍 Belle Vue Community Centre, Albert Crescent, Penarth

There will also be a short talk from Phil Batchelor (Home Instead) about how staying socially connected can make a big difference to health and wellbeing.

You’ll also be able to chat with a range of local organisations and community groups including Age Connects, Hourglass, Penarth Young at Heart, Value in the Vale, Deafblind UK, Valeways and more.

✨ Free refreshments will be available too — fruit, biscuits and a chance for a good catch-up!

We’d love to see some familiar faces and meet new ones, so please feel free to pop in, get involved with the craft activity and find out a little more about what we do at CwmpasOT.
