Llais Wales

Llais Wales LLAIS is an independent, national body which gives the people of Wales more power and influence to shape their health and social care services.

We will work with health and social care bodies, policy makers and others so that they hear your voice and use your feedback to help shape health and care services to meet everyone’s needs. Yn gymraeg:

The People's Principles reflect shared priorities 🙌

They are grounded in what people have said matters most and they provide a strong, values-led foundation for reform.

Alongside them, the common understanding of shared rights and responsibilities recognises that a sustainable health and social care system depends on partnership between people and communities, the workforce and government.

🌟 We’re excited to launch our new ‘Silly Rules’ report today!

Created with the Bevan Commission, this report highlights some everyday rules in health and social care that might be slowing things down or making life harder than it needs to be.

We asked people across Wales:
“If you could change or break any rule to make care better, what would it be?”

We were blown away by hundreds of suggestions full of practical, honest ideas to improve the experience for both the people of Wales, and health and social care staff.

Some examples we heard:
📞 People being told to phone for an appointment while standing right in front of the reception desk.
📝 Managers spending hours on paperwork for very small incidents.

These stories show how small changes could make a big difference.

People across Wales told us what is important to them within their health and social care services and what that looks and feels like.

We turned these into that everyone can uphold no matter what part they play in health and social care services in Wales.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be shining a spotlight on those voices and the changes people want to see. By sharing their experiences, insights, and priorities, we aim to keep the conversation going and help drive a system that reflects the values and expectations of communities across Wales.

🔔 Keeping You Informed: Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) review

As committed last November, we want to ensure that people across Wales remain up to date on the work of the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) regarding EMRTS.

This is a subject that is clearly important to many communities, and it’s understandable that people want transparency about next steps and opportunities for involvement.

The NWJCC met at the end of last month and has now issued an update relating to Recommendation 4.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the millions of lives lost and reflect on the lessons that history teaches us.

We honour the fundamental principle that every person has the right to dignity, respect, and fairness.

Today, and always, we commit to upholding these values and to challenging discrimination and prejudice wherever they occur. We reflect on the importance of ethical care, compassion, and standing up for what is right.

Last week, we held an event for the launch of our the Health and Social Care We Want: A Manifesto for Change at the Senedd.

We spoke to thousands of people in Wales and our We Want report brings these voices together, highlighting the key themes that emerged from our conversations.

The 8 principles we share come directly from their experiences.

Now, we’re sharing those voices — real experiences and hopes for a better system.
