Wales’ first urban sauna is coming to Cardiff

From burnout to building one of Wales’ fastest-growing wellbeing brands…

Hikitalo, founded by Welsh entrepreneur Will Jenkins, is opening Cardiff’s first ever urban sauna this April at Meanwhile House on Curran Embankment – and it’s backed by a £100,000 funding boost to make it happen.

After visiting 70+ saunas across 14 countries, Will turned a deeply personal reset into a business that now welcomes over 2,000 visitors a month in Porthcawl, with 63% returning regularly. Now, he’s bringing the heat to the capital.

Expect:
• Three communal saunas
• Ice baths
• Hot tubs
• A coffee shop overlooking the container units
• Up to 10 new jobs created

And here’s the stat that makes this even more Cardiff-coded… 30% of Hikitalo’s current customers already travel from the city.

Recognised as Best Waterside Sauna 2025 and featured on the BBC’s From Porthcawl with Love, Hikitalo has quickly become one of Wales’ most talked-about wellbeing brands.

This isn’t just about sweating it out. It’s about community, connection and carving out space to reset in the middle of city life.

Cardiff, are we ready for hot-cold therapy on the Embankment? 🔥❄️

Big Boost for Welsh Rail and Cardiff Is at the Heart of It

The UK Government has announced a generational commitment to transform rail across Wales, with seven new train stations confirmed and significant long-term funding to modernise our network.

This comes as part of a joint endorsement of the long-term plan from Transport for Wales and support from both UK and Welsh Governments, ending years of underinvestment and uncertainty. The deal is expected to support around 12,000 jobs across Wales and improve journeys for commuters, businesses and visitors alike.

🚉 New stations coming to our region include:
• Magor and Undy
• Llanwern
• Cardiff East
• Newport West
• Somerton
• Cardiff Parkway
• Deeside Industrial Park (serving North Wales)

📍 What this means for Cardiff
• Planned new stations in Cardiff East and Cardiff Parkway could significantly improve connectivity across South East Wales and beyond.
• Cardiff Parkway, in particular, is set to transform travel in the St Mellons area and unlock thousands of local jobs by boosting access to employment and business districts.
• Better rail links could ease congestion and support the city’s continued economic growth.

The Prime Minister and Welsh Government leaders have framed this as a long-term vision to build a rail network “fit for Wales’ future” with faster, more reliable services, and investment that benefits communities across the country.
