On Monday we were proud to host a special Commonwealth Day event at , bringing together athletes, partners, stakeholders and sports from across Wales to celebrate the journey towards the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
We heard from our Chef de Mission and CEO (Rebecca Edwards- Symmons) as they shared their reflections on the journey so far, and looked ahead to the exciting road towards the 23rd Commonwealth Games.
The event, organised and hosted by , Head of Engagement, also featured an inspiring athlete panel, giving a unique insight into the dedication, commitment and drive to reach a Games;
🥊 Dan Pitt (.boxing) – World Youth Champion, and aiming for his first Commonwealth Games.
🚴 Steffan Lloyd ( ) – a successful pilot with James Ball, Paralympic and World gold medallist, and now targeting a solo place in Glasgow.
🏀 Chloe Morgan (Wheelchair Basketball / ) – hoping to qualify as part of the first Welsh basketball team to compete at a Commonwealth Games.
A huge thank you to singer for the wonderful entertainment, and to pupils from Mount Stuart Primary School and Tredegarville Primary School for helping make the day so special.
It was a great opportunity for our hardworking / interns to see the end result of helping to plan and deliver the event. Da iawn Archie Davies and Neve Crisp 👏
It was also great to see athletes from different National Governing Bodies alongside our partners and supporters as we celebrated the power of sport to inspire communities across Wales. Diolch am y cefnogaeth.
