A great couple of days at the party conference at the ICC in Newport, speaking with MSs, MPs, candidates, delegates and conference attendees ahead of the Senedd election in May.

A sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand to discuss community pharmacy in Wales. We appreciated the opportunity to share the fantastic work our network is doing to provide medicines to patients, alongside delivering valuable services such as independent prescribing and the Common Ailments Service. Together, these services play a crucial role in supporting patients and easing pressure on other parts of the NHS, across both primary and secondary care.

We were also pleased to outline the key priorities in our manifesto, including reviewing the funding formula, creating a level playing field for our workforce, ensuring fair access to funding for improvements to clinical facilities, and further developing the role of community pharmacy in preventative health.

We greatly valued the opportunity to highlight how, by working in close partnership with government, we can protect and strengthen the vital role community pharmacies play in delivering healthcare to people and communities across Wales.

💊 Yng Nghynhadledd Plaid Cymru yng Nghasnewydd bore ma, nes i gwrdd â Llŷr Hughes o Fferyllwyr Llŷn.

Yn ddiweddar, pan oedd fy mam yn wael, roedd gwasanaethau Fferyllwyr Llŷn yn eu fferyllfa yn Abersoch yn amhrisiadwy. Mae’r rhwydwaith o 7 o fferyllfeydd ar draws Gwynedd yn hanfodol er mwyn darparu gofal yn y gymuned, ac mewn nifer o achosion maen nhw’n atal pobol rhag gorfod mynd i’r syrjeri yn y lle cyntaf. Maen nhw’n gwneud cymaint mwy na dosbarthu meddyginiaeth.

Hefyd, roedd yn braf clywed bod eu fferyllfeydd yn derbyn myfyrwyr o Ysgol Fferylliaeth Prifysgol Bangor, ysgol nes i ymgyrchu’n galed amdani ynghyd â’r Ysgol Feddygol.

Diolch, Llŷr!

💊 At the Plaid Cymru Conference in Newport this morning, I had the pleasure of meeting Llŷr Hughes from Fferyllwyr Llŷn, a network of local pharmacies in Gwynedd.

Recently, when my mother was unwell, the care and support provided by Fferyllwyr Llŷn at their Abersoch pharmacy were truly invaluable. They play a vital role in delivering health services within our communities — often preventing the need for GP appointments in the first place. They provide far more than simply dispensing medication.

It was also encouraging to hear that their pharmacies support students from Bangor University’s School of Pharmacy — a school I was proud to campaign for, alongside the Medical School.

Thank you, Llŷr.
