Think measles is just a childhood illness? Think again.

Young adults can become seriously unwell. Measles can cause:
• high fever
• severe cough
• pneumonia
• brain inflammation

Universities are high-risk environments when vaccination rates are low.

If you’re studying in Cardiff and aren’t sure you’ve had 2 doses of the MMR vaccine, contact your GP practice to check.

It’s free on the Welsh NHS - and it protects you and your friends.

While students across South Wales went head to head at Welsh Varsity, our Special Constabulary were out in force helping to keep everyone safe.🙌

14 volunteer officers gave up their free time to support regular officers and PCSOs during one of the biggest student sporting events of the year.

From 9am right through to 4am, they were on patrol across Cardiff – engaging with crowds, responding to incidents and providing vital extra resilience when it mattered most.

A huge thank you to our Specials for their commitment, professionalism and dedication to keeping our communities safe.👏

Want to make a difference? We’re recruiting Special Constables now.

Apply now and be part of something bigger.

At the Emergency Unit, colleagues are experts in emergency medicine. 🏥

This means the unit is not suitable for treating non-urgent, long-standing health conditions. If you need support for ongoing health issues, please contact your GP.

Your local community pharmacy can also provide advice and treatment for a range of common conditions under the Common Ailment Scheme.

If you are not sure whether your condition is an emergency or if your condition is urgent, but not life-threatening, please call 111.

The NHS 111 Wales call operators will advise you on the right place to get treatment for your condition - this may be the Urgent Out of Hours Service, the Minor Injuries Unit, your GP, a community pharmacy or the Emergency Unit.

To learn more about when to attend the unit, visit the website.
