2. Set your alarm clock so you get up in time for a 9KM walk before 9 O'clock.
3. You'll need a smartphone to track your walk so you can post a photograph of your walk map.

The latest Feel Good Hour Podcast is out…

With National Old Stuff Day falling on Monday 2 March, we’re talking about hoarding - one of the UK’s most misunderstood mental health conditions.

It’s often dismissed as mess or disorganisation, but for millions of people it’s something far deeper, affecting health, homes and relationships.

Joining Sam, as always, is Nigel Jones - life coach, hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, author of Walking Back to Happiness, and founder of 9KM BY 9AM. Nigel works with behaviour change at a deep emotional level and helps people make changes that are realistic, compassionate and lasting.

National Old Stuff Day is a timely moment to reflect on our relationship with possessions - why we keep things, what they represent emotionally, and when holding on stops being comforting and starts becoming harmful. Is This the Future of Delivery?

Spending some time in California at the moment and I’ve had one of those telling moments that makes you pause and think about where things are heading.

I ordered a takeaway on Uber Eats and was given a choice: human courier or robot delivery. I went with the robot (whose name is Arama) — partly curiosity, partly because I’ve not seen this in the UK yet.

About 20 minutes later I was standing outside the hotel watching it trundle up the street. I’d tracked it live in the app, unlocked it with my phone when it arrived, lifted the lid and taken the food out. Transaction complete. No fuss from the locals. No novelty theatre for them — just… normal.

Across this trip we’ve already seen driverless (Waymo) cars in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and now autonomous delivery moving through everyday streets. What struck me wasn’t the technology itself — it was how quickly fascination gives way to familiarity. The first time feels futuristic. The second time feels practical. By the third, it’s just part of the environment.

It raises an interesting question: are we witnessing genuine behavioural shift in real time — and how long before this becomes commonplace elsewhere?
