After many of my younger years struggling with maladaptive perfectionism, and undiagnosed ADHD, Yoga found me! Yoga opened a door to finding peace, contentment and joy in life. Little did I know that many more doors would continue to open. Since the start of perimenopause and a diagnosis of Vestibular schwannoma, a slow growing, tiny non-cancerous tumor on a nerve which leads from the brain to the inner ear. I have become drawn to the pursuit for overall wellbeing. I find being outside magic and love being in open spaces. Park run has been hugely beneficial and running in general. I’ve become passionate about avoiding ultra-processed foods so have begun cooking from scratch.
My approach to Yoga teaching is one of being “a guide” to make suggestions one can explore, the goal of the practice being the mastery of the mind and not a perfect yoga posture, the posture work as with the breathing is more of a meditation tool, when it comes to posture work I deconstruct postures, working in stages, making yoga accessible for everyone. “We” the class as a collective are all creating our own unique practice within a frame work of my suggestions. Yoga is a science of the mind where we build strength of mind and strength of body. It gives us practical life skills that really do help in everyday situations.
I have 10 Year’s experience of teaching on an addictions program within a mental health hospital setting, an eating disorder unit within a mental health setting, care homes and those dealing with the challenges of Dementia and Cancer.
