Thank you to Gurkha Restaurant for your generous donation of £300 towards the cause, as well as the continued support these past few months! Without the amazing team and customers at The Gurkha Restaurant, we would not have been able to fundraise a grand total of £830 (not including the £300 cheque)!

Our Nepalese Culture Night at the Gurkha Restaurant yesterday evening was a massive success! We were fully booked!
Thank you to everyone who attended and I hope you all enjoyed your night!
The support that you have all shown for me has been overwhelming and I'm glad I was able to celebrate the culture I am about to immerse myself in with so many of you!
A special thank you to Harka Sewa of the Gurkha Restaurant for organising the event and hosting!

The total amount raised through raffle ticket sales and donations made into the collection box was a fantastic £222.22 (I had to re-count this a few times to make sure). Thank you again to everyone who participated in our raffle and congratulations to those of you who won the prizes!
For those who were unable to collect their prize, I will be arranging collection/delivery of prizes this week!

I will be uploading some videos that our tech superstar of the night, Adam Clark filmed throughout the event!

Watch this space for further updates before I jet off next Saturday.
I will also be aiming to film and post while I am away so keep an eye out for those also!

Namaste,
Shannon

Nursing Placement in Kathmandu, Nepal August 2019

I am a Child Nursing student at Anglia Ruskin University in my second year. This academic year I have been presented with the once in a lifetime opportunity to go on an elective placement to Kathmandu, Nepal to work in the children's ward of a local hospital. This will be a 4 week long placement in August 2019. This is fantastic opportunity for me to experience healthcare in a less- economically developed country compared to the healthcare system we have in UK. I will also have the opportunity to see first hand a range of healthcare conditions and treatment that I would not be able to experience in the UK. This massive learning curve that I am so excited to experience will contribute to my development and learning as a Children's Nurse, as it will help develop my professional skills, my clinical knowledge and competence.

Why I need your help: As you would expect, such a trip comes at a price, which unfortunately, as a student, I cannot afford through student finance and wages alone.I have a GoFundMe page set up where I will likely be receiving most donations. (https://www.gofundme.com/nursing-placement-kathmandu-nepal). I will not be relying solely on donations through gofundme, as I will be saving up my income as well as trying to raise money through alternative methods such as selling personal items/ bake sales and EasyFundraising (https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/shannoncrowley-kathmandunepal/ ) .

What will the money be spent on? - Flights to and from Nepal - Safe and secure accommodation in Kathmandu - Catering during my stay - Travel Insurance (which is more extensive due to the nature of my trip) - Vaccinations - Travel during my trip, including Airport to Accommodation - Orientation to the city and the hospital - Required funding for my placement at the hospital - Language support to enable to learn basic Nepali to communicate with patients and staff - Support from the WorkTheWorld Team - Specialist equipment I need to purchase to enable me to carry out clinical procedures.

I need to be able to raise the full amount by May 6th 2019.
