A huge misconception because how many photos do you see like this!

If you were to lie here like this, the stones would scorch your back, there is no massage going on and therefor no therapeutic benefits happening.

What a hot stone massage actually is....
A beautiful hot stone massage uses warm basalt stones in the therapists hands whilst the therapist carries out the massage (either full body or neck, back and shoulders are available). Therefore you get the benefit of the massage and the heat from the stones. Leaving your muscles warmed through and relaxed. When I had my first one, I loved it so much that I knew I had to learn it.

So as the days start to get colder my little hot pot of stones is often bubbling away and awaiting a restoring hot stone massage.

And I am never afraid to say it!
This week I had to very sadly decline to give someone a massage for the moment as medically it wasn't appropriate. I hated doing it as it goes against everything that I try and do by supporting people through massage and keeping them going. However in this instance the risk was too high and further investigations need to happen first and hopefully she will come back and enjoy her hot stones another day.

This is just one example, however I am very lucky to know other therapists that I can trust and refer to. Such as sports therapists and podiatrists as examples who can diagnose, refer for scans if needed and treat in other ways. Because at the end of the day our goal is for you to get better and if that means I am not your lady for the moment, I am never too proud to refer on 😉.

Keeping you moving, even if it includes a bit of teamwork too 😁.

How privileged am I that one of my lovely clients called me and my therapy space her "safe place" yesterday.

This hit me on so many levels, I am so grateful to be doing what I do and being in a position to meet so many wonderful people. We have laughs and we have tears because that is all part of life and its ups and downs. But this is why I love doing what I do, connecting with people, that is truly special.

Thank you for coming to see me, for trusting me, enabling me to be a part of your journey in life. I never take it for granted .... massage is more than just a massage 🥰

The Cancer roadshow is less than a week away!! spread the word please to make sure that people who could benefit from this know about it.

People from Macmillan, The Prospect Hospice, Citizens advice and clinicians and support groups specialising in certain Cancers will be there to offer support and guidance for those on their Cancer journey.

I will be there to spread the word about Oncology massage, providing relaxation when some one needs it most.

**Free cancer roadshow for anyone on their Cancer journey**

If you or anyone you know are on their Cancer journey please do share this event with them. We are hoping there will be a wide range of people and organisations there that are involved with Cancer care, early diagnosis, support and awareness to be able to help those that need it. There will also be members of the primary care team available to demonstrate help and support locally.

I will be there offering foot and calf massages on the day as well as spreading the word about the power of awesome Oncology massage and looking forward to meeting some lovely people.

Sports therapy association membership renewal.... what this means for you?
Professional membership means that I am accountable to the STA, they ensure that I am doing CPD (continual professional development) to be the best therapist I can for you. To ensure that I am still trying to learn and be the best therapist to support you.

It would be easy for me to have qualified 10 years ago and to have continued to provide the same service for 10 years, staying stagnant when research is ever evolving. But I am passionate about delivering more to you, to be the best therapist I can be.

It also means that I have an association who are there to support me (and therefor in turn you). If you raise something I am not to sure of (because I am not scared to say I don't know everything). I have a team behind me to be able to get support, again to give you the best service possible.

So when you see this logo displayed proudly, know that actually it means a lot. I care about what I do for you and I want to give you the best I can. As I always say massage is more than just a massage.
